ok this  project  started  about a year ago, but recently  got back on it full time.  having purchased  some Model Factory Hiro  cobra kits, i decided  to  warm-up with some less expensive monogram kits. With  help  from Steve  at  V-R-M  decals  for letting me purchase decals that are not ready yet  and inspiration  from  many model builders like  AFX  AND Cobraman,  made this project happen.  although    more 289 cobra's  raced then  427 cobra's there are still enough  decal  sets to make more than  10       427 race cobra's.  not  just a  Ford  fan  also.....have  way too many  Chaparral  kits to build along  with  Grand sport corvette''s  , Ferrari's  and Lola t 70's.   at 54   i need to get  going on some builds.  maybe  the reason  for 9  cobra  builds at one time.

Very nice lineup.
But I'm a little curious about the reason for using Holley Dominators for these builds.
Because I have never seen any Cobras with Holley Dominators, just the 4150 style (center hung floats) for single carburetor (some with the LeMans float bowls) and 4160 (side hung floats) for dual mount carburetors.
Holley debuted the 4500 Dominator carburetor late 1968 early 1969 for Ford to use in NASCAR and Trans Am and it was later released to the public, so there were none before that.

thanks for the replies and interest. i used  these  carbs because it's all i had in spare parts box.  Force,  do you know where i could find correct carb that doesn't look like the un-impressive one that comes in stock kit? VCG resins makes a 750 holley that may look close.

Very impressive undertaking William and I wish you the very best.  If you need any reference photos just let me know.

Gary

thanks Gary,  i  have many cobra books and always looking for more reference  photo's.  color  photo's  are harder to find.  got a couple... is this  #1 cobra Lothar Motschenbecher csx3012 silver or viking blue? Studio 27 decal reference has it as viking blue.

no photo ... red 427 cobra at sebring(car #7) csx 3176 almost  a street car with no side pipes. i have no engine pic... dual carbs ??

I am guessing the Shelby registry books have all the info you would ever need on the Competition cars.  Not sure the last time SAAC updated them and they are probably over $ 200 if you can find one.

i  have that  book,  great history and almost every picture is black and white. they  tell  how cars where delivered(color)  but  many had color's  changed  as they raced.   car csx 3012  was  delivered  silver, why would Studio 27 have it  as viking blue. shelby  registry  book also  show's  cars as they look today and not how they raced in the 60's   like  csx 3176  raced   in red with #7  and now it's  white #175

thanks for the reply vamach1

The registry says it was painted Mercedes silver.5a491a1a070d7_Cobra_CSX3012_1965_1_LagunaSeca_Motschenbacher_009.JPG.16c29d562a64941a8a79c7a0fe036562.JPG

CSX3176 1966 #7 at Sebring red, with full width roll bar.  Still looking for engine.5a491c0b14375_Cobra_CSX3176_1966_7_Sebring_Bentley-Byrne-Latta_018.jpg.3176002ac8a933c70eace152c0923074.jpg5a491c0c67079_Cobra_CSX3176_1966_7_Sebring_Bentley-Latta-Byrne_004.jpg.909cbbc3c3291e8282ecc9419432b8c9.jpg5a491c0d31ff5_Cobra_CSX3176_1966_7_Sebring_Bentley-Latta-Byrne_0683.jpg.cf9671e05972327e9bbaaf2b3500bab2.jpg

Though the registry does not say it I am pretty certain it raced at Daytona in 1967 but in blue with Herb Byrne-Russell Beazell-Dick Thetford driving.  Same number, same roll bar, same exhaust.

This should be a very cool build. HRM makes the Halibrand six slot mags for the #1 car.

thanks Maxx,  HRM  makes some great stuff.  i think i have a set of his   Halibrand  wheels to use.

Hi Bill,

Awesome project !!!!

Now I understand why you need all those seats we were talking to Harold about :)

I would recommend taking a look at  Fireball Model Works carbs  for either the 4150 or the 4160 carb. I have some in stock.  FMR-092 comes with the "LeMans" bowls,   FMR-093 is a 4150 style   FMR-094 is the 4160.

Happy New Year !!!!

Randy

almost looks like air intakes  under front of car.

The items under the car are brake cooling ducts.  HRM offers them.  They are the silver items in the center tray.

Here they are installed on my build of CSX2026.
