66 GS glue bomb resto

Recommended Posts

Very very nice! I love these models. I'm confused though--have you painted it the turquoise, or was it that color and you've stripped it? If you've painted it, great color choice! I like where you're going with it.

I have one of these on the bench I need to get back to, and a couple more glue bombers to get around to eventually.

Good luck and keep us posted on this one!

I thought that was probably the case. Kinda sorry to hear it, as I was gonna tell you about an error on the AMT body you could have fixed before painting it.

No big deal, though. Apparently I'm the only one who's ever seen it, as every one I've ever seen built over the years (including the one I built in 1969) is uncorrected. B) (The one I'm working on now has it fixed, though.)

Don't worry about polishing the paint off the "trim" on the body sides. That's what you're supposed to do! The real car doesn't have a chrome strip there; AMT molded in a pair of fine white pinstripes that will show through beautifully after polishing or very careful sanding. Looks like yours is going to look great in that detail! B)

I sanded the pinstripes before I cleared it. I know about the Skylark bird that shouldn’t be on a GS. But I like it on there. My dad had a 67 Skylark and I always liked the bird. Got a little further on it. Looks better on redlines .

I wasn't talking about the Skylark bird. Didn't even know about that. As my Dad used to say, "You learn something new every day if you're not careful." B)

That DOES look good on redlines. They'll really come to life when you paint the black areas on the GS wheels.

Gotta say it again: I love this color on this car!
