Think this has ever been offroad?

Real Jeep guys know how to make the best at what they have,and repair whatever breaks.If you own a Jeep,and don't take it Offroad,to me that's a waste of $$$.I don't mean rock crawling,but riding it on the dunes on the south shore of LI,is always fun.

Oh man, that would be so fun! In my teens, we went out in someone's 4x4 on a Cape Cod beach. Rode a few miles along the coast. Possibly not as regulated back then. Other four by's parked along the coast, campfires, beer, and party time. Music, fun, and the sound of the surf. The best!

It's technically illegal here too, but it's rarely enforced.

We also have laws regarding bumper height, headlight height, window tint, mudflaps, noise, etc. 

None of it strictly enforced at all.

Hey I don't own a monster truck,but as far as the laws in NY,I think they are pretty much the same all over.But I've never got a ticket for my lift,or my tires sticking out,etc.I don't think the local police even care at all.Cause I've seen some seriously lifted trucks running on 44,46,or 48 inch tires,and again the police basically look the other way...I mean as long as you don't drive around like a moron.

You nailed it. Give the police a reason to pull you over, and then have an attitude. That's when the tickets for mudflaps or window tint or bumper height or whatever start happening. 

 

Drive sensibly, and in most cases, the police won;t bother you. 

I've never had a problem/ticket with any of my Jeeps (all lifted) or my lifted trucks, or my window tint, or my loud exhausts. Because I don't drive like a fool.

Ah your near to where our eldest was living (Lacombe) and has recently moved to Alberta. Anyway, the Police are very strict here on Headlight height's, Excess tyre width, window tint and noise. Although we have little or none of them here due to them being left had drive.

Our biggest problem is that the island is small. Our normal (A) roads between towns are the width of two articulated trucks, our country roads (B) are the width of one articulated truck!

We have dual carraigeways, that's two lanes each way on the outskirts of towns. Or motorways which are three lanes each way but are only between major cities.

Yeah, driving there and driving here are barely the same thing! My parents are from Southampton, and all of my relatives are still "back home." We used to go back and visit every other summer, and when I was 16 I got my first taste of driving. One trip to the pub and my parents were not in driving condition. So there's me, driving officially for less than a year, sat in the right hand seat of a Ford Escort at midnight. Interesting to say the least. Anyway, over the years, my cousins have had vehicles they've been modified, and they were very aware of the rules for what they could and could not do. How they could lower the car, the type of exhaust, how to mount additional lights. They saw what I was doing to my cars and were blown away by what we could get away with!

When our youngest son passed his test he always wanted a custom Beetle. We found one took it to Francis Tuthill, whose business is building/restoring Porsche's. He fixed the floor pan, de-chrome it, lowered it and put a new 1600cc motor in it. We Put in new trim/seats etc. One night (2am) coming home from the then girlfriends house, he's stopped by the law, when he open's the window, the policeman has a torch in his hand and crawls nearly under the car, and want's to know why the Beetle goes round roundabouts faster that his police car!
