Outlaw Porsche 964 build

I combined a fujimi RSR body with a revell germ. Porsche interior and pan with engine and transmission. Really like the fujimi body because it has the ability to be transformed into a lot of different Porsche generations. I cut the tail off to make the “beatle back” and made a brass roll bar. The interior is “Singer designs” inspired with scale Motorsports seats, spoiler, lights, and gas cap. Built some custom pipes for exhaust and intake manifolds. Right now I’m figuring out the ride height and wheel position since the revell kit wheels are junk and front and back suspensions are not to my liking. Here are some picks of the interior and body. Car paint job needs to be sanded and polished w/ clear coat but this is where I’m at so far.

Thanks Gary! Wow! I’m glad someone responded, since it’s my first post! I just moved so my hobby stuff is all over the place! I was wondering is it wrong to post your titles without making the text Bold? If it is I do it on my next project! I’ve been looking at a lot of builds on this site and there all really great! Next post I’ll have in progress photos with descriptions when I get working on it again!

I don't think there are any rules on titles. My personal rule is to just make it clear so people know what I'm saying. LOL. I've like the Fujimi 911s because they have such great bodies, but I like the Monogram Revell 911s for everything else.

Thanks Jason.  I've built:

  • '70 Tour de France 911ST
  • '70 Le Mans 914/6 GT
  • stock 914/6
  • '98 Le Mans GT2
  • 935-77
  • Porsche No.1
  • In addition to the 944 rallye,  I have a 935K in the beginning stages
  • and yet more Porsche projects I would like to build :)

Wow JC!  Post some picks of your other builds on this page! I want to see the Tour de France 911 ST as well as some of the other builds you posted. I’m also thinking of doing a 911 safari build with the revell turbo body because it’s wide and has a super short windshield. It just screams desert racer.  What do you think of the Tamiya 959 kit ? I think it could be turned into something cool.

I don't normally like to post on other's build threads but since you asked Jason some photos:

As for the Tamiya 959 - very nice kit with lots of possibilities.  Porsche finished 1st, 2nd & 6th at '86 Dakar with the 959 (961).

JC, thanks 4 posting those pics!  Porsche has a really unique history in racing. Especially since they basically bolted stuff on production cars and raced them! There wasn’t a ton of R and D done. It was like tack on a few more production cars and send it to the race location! The mechanics will figure it out later and the drivers just drive! One kit I haven’t seen in a while is the Tamiya Alpine (Renault) Monte Carlo Rally. That kit look fun too. I kind of want to do a Cayman GT4 as well!

Nice Porsche's all! When our youngest bought his first VW Beetle we took it to a workshop that specialised in VW and Porsche restorations. He showed us around the three large workshops he had and the mainly Porsche's that were being refurbed for numerous customers, from 1950's 365's upwards. One that they had just finished refurb for Prodrive at Banbury was the Rothman's 959 that they had originally built for Rothman's! What a beast!

I have the Alpine MC version in the stash.

If your into resin kits, Modeling Master makes a very nice kit of the Dakar 959: http://modellingmaster.com/porsche-959-paris-dakar-86/

Great work so far! Hey with your bench & the non slip stuff, don't leave anything painted with "soft" paints (like acrylic, alclad etc) on it, I did once, left a Matt Black Nova upside down on it overnight & during hot day & it completely ruined the finish on my body, left that pattern all over the roof.

These are the brakes and spacers I made for the back wheels. Might have to sand them down a bit to create right spacing. I only made the spacers not the fujimi brakes. Painted them though! Have to move the door hinge back between 2-4mm to get the door to open wider. I had to thicken out the door car a bit to get the same look as passenger side, therefore I have to push the hinge back a bit to create some space!

Hey Nathan,   I should order some more stuff from scale productions ! I’m using their singer lights, tail spoiler, seats, and various metal parts! Right now I’ve been using RS Watanabe 17”  fujimi !

Does anyone know if those 17" Watanabes can be found in a five lug?

Im not aware of them being available in 5 lug. I have found 15" superlites (look pretty much the same as watanbes) by scale productions with 5 lugs

I started the transkit for the Paris Dakar, but life has put it on hold.
