Anyone have experience with eBay resin sellers?

Recommended Posts

Specifically, I"m looking at some products offered by redlinerestorations2015-8 on eBay.  It appears that his stuff is original, but I'm wondering if anyone has bought any of his products before.    Thanks.

I bought the 70 Chevelle Wagon was very happy with it, the only thing it takes some to clean up a lot of extra resin around the wheel wells. I do think it will build into a very nice model. I have been wanting  a 70 Chevelle wagon for a long time.

I've been eyeing the S10 / Blazer stuff...

How was the inside of that Wagon?  Is the body thin like a kit body, or thick like some of the older resins you see sometimes?

thanks!

Is he the one that took the excellent 77 El Camino from MCRC and added some trim to the side and called it his own original? Might have been someone else, not sure.

I have seen the stuff on the Bay, haven't bit yet because when it comes to someone new, I like to hold it in my hands first.

It was him. And he is quite vocal about being able to steal other peoples work. From what I have seen, his stuff is nasty.

That's dandy. :(

I just pulled the trigger on the S10 extended cab.   Hopefully it'll work out.

I feel sorry for you.

Did you get that  S 10 cab yet ?

I did.

Actually, his shipping was pretty quick.  Other than this one transaction, I've not had any interactions with him.  Here are some pictures; please overlook my super-great phone camera:

Some clean up will certainly be needed, but I don't think it's horrible.

I washed it, and I'm hoping the streaking doesn't bleed through primer.  I suspect it'll be okay.

The original Revell kit has slots on the back for the bed to 'notch' into, if I recall correctly.

He molded the bed together as one piece, but I'm not sure why.  I'm planning to use the Revell kit parts for mine when I build it.  But, I'll hang on to this for possibly future use.

Bonus parts, of sorts.  I was wondering about that solid 'window' -- do they do this with dragsters or something?

Anywho.... now you know.  I'm hoping I can do something decent with this.

It's not great. It looks like the resin wasn't thoroughly mixed, hence the swirly look. That could be a big problem. The rear 1/4 window shape is off, and there should be no raised lip around the opening, either. I would check the top of the roof against reference images, too, as the extended cab roof has a slightly different contour than the standard cab.

Those 'slots' in the rear cab wall also allow the builder to slightly spread the lower body sides to all the interior to slip up into the body...you could be in some trouble when it comes time to fit the-- wait, it doesn't include the extended interior?

Are the inner wheel wells removed, too, i.e., the engine compartment is totally empty?

You can see where the top-of-the-door-to-cab gap is now much shallower due to the sanding to try and make the roof flatter, too. Those door lines should've been re-scribed but weren't. Also odd is there's a bumper molded with the cab, as the grille and front splash pan must be added to the cab before the bumper.

Ugh! That thing looks like a pile to me, but no surprise after everything I've seen and heard of this seller.

Those quarter windows are all kinds of wrong.  For reference here's how they should be shaped, as Casey said no moldings around the 1:1 either:

I'm bummed.

Maybe I'll just revert back to trying to salvage my old cobbled together hatchet job of merging two Revell/Monogram S-10 kits together.

I would do that and return the resin thing. Nobody should pay good money for what you received.

So ... anybody got 1 or 2 Monogram/Revell Chevy S10 kits they'd like to part with? :)

There is no amount of polish that will make that turd shine. I owned three square body 1:1 S-10's and there is all kinds of things wrong with that resin kit.
