Greg Myers
Coincidence? (Mark Jones?) There is a back story to this one. Something about the names on the side of the red car. My all time favorite as well.

Greg Myers
Here's another in AMT's race car/trailer/tow vehicle series: Wonder if this is the box art they used on the recent reissue ?
Greg Myers
The above maybe my all time favorite box art ever done. Sucked me into buying my first one back in the day. Revell '57 Nomad, picture didn't come through. One of the best Box Art, but terribly , fiddly kit to build.Wire wheels on original were airbrushed out to match chrome rims in kit. cobraman
Wonder if this is the box art they used on the recent reissue ?Been wanting the Cobra set for a long time and very happy to see it will be out soon. Model roundup will be selling it for about 50 bucks. I will need two. One to build and one for the collection.
zenrat
In the late 70's/early 80's Hasegawa let their graphics people off the rein WRT aircraft box design. These are two of my favourites. Yes a great kit, especially in original shiny Monogram plastic. The car and the scenes used for these 'Classic ' kits were fantastic. I love this too, reminds me of a town on the Rhine I visited called Bacharach am Rhine(Yes as in Burt)
Junkman
Jo-Han also used a 'rhine-esque' setting for one of their Mercedes kits while the other one was pictured in a swamp. Edited November 27, 2017 by Junkman

Gramps46
I seem to remember reading that Truth in Advertising laws had an impact on Box Art and forced many modeling companies to go to photographs instead of illustrations.

ChrisBcritter
As for non-car box art, here's my favorite: Even though it depicts twice as many XF-92s as were actually built, and looks like they're flying from a base on the moon. But the black-bordered US ones looked more "finished" or refined or something to me than the white-bordered Japanese ones.
peteski
Since we have now branched to non-automotive subjects, pretty much all the box-art from the now-defunct VEB Plasticart (kit manufacturer from East Germany in the '70s) had some beautiful artwork. Those were some of the first kits I built as a kid and the artwork still looks beautiful. Here is a bunch of examples.
