I suspect it wouldn't be too hard to build either model year from the kit if you paid attention to any differences and sweated the details in building that kit. OldTrucker
That looks to be a 79. My wife had a 1:1. The later versions the grill changed and it got an ugly bubble like hatch window.
Rob Hall
'79-82 all looked much the same outside..'83-86 had the bubble window hatch, revised taillights, hood and grille. IIRC the Revell kit shared it's body w/ the various Revell '79 Mustang kits, making for inaccurate Mustangs (Capris had front fender and rear quarter bulges the Mustang didn't have). Rodent
Biggest visible difference I can think of is that the 79 had the inner door handle very low on the panel. It was moved up top for 1980 and the lock mechanism was changed. Not sure how much detail the kit has in that area.

Also made for inaccurate Capris too as the Revell bodys had both the larger flares of the Capri AND the smaller Mustang style flares on top of them. Very odd and wrong for both cars. afx
The kit in question just to make it easier for everyone.
MarvinGardens
As was stated, it is at best a very poor mix of Mustang/Capri. 1979-82 Capris are pretty much externally identical. Interior-wise, 1979 will have the door handle down low, with the door lock pin in the middle of the door pointing forward. 1980 will have the door handle moved to the top of the door (where it stayed from then on) with the door lock pin still in the middle of the door pointing forward. 1981 was when the door handle and door lock pin configuration was finalized into what everyone knows as their locations (pin and handle high on the door panel). This kit has Capri bulges with the Mustang flares. To be a closer-to-correct Capri, you would have to sand down the Mustang flares and re-construct the well opening to better match the Capri profile.
