Don't attach the wheels, set the car up on Hansa Systems cinder blocks and you can accurately model a stripped car. Not a '57 Ford; but, similar result. Hmmm........I actually tried that once. Got it to work and all in my then '57 Corvette project. Of course, this was all for naught as I couldn't find a way to get the steering wheel to attach and have a firm enough "grip" to make the shaft turn. Oh well------by now the thing would have been skipping gears anyway, so it's just as well!

regular guy
' Don't attach the wheels' You know it's unsafe to work on a car using cinder blocks for jackstands? ' I couldn't find a way to get the steering wheel to attach ' Grind the end of shaft square or slot. Then heat steering wheel and press on as far as possible without showing through top. Also.Get everything to move as frictionless or free as possible. Take load off splined steering wheel. Edited July 12, 2018 by regular guy

FordRodnKustom
The original issue had two sets of quad head lights, custom vertical housings and and custom horizontal housings. The Flashback reissue retains the vertical quad housings.
regular guy
' There was never any optional hood in the Ford kit ' Looks like a Styline hood to me./The purple car on the left. If that is all done with the front clip and the hood is stock 'Well.Excuse me!' I don't live on the Planet Perfectus. Plus it says 'steerable' wheels.Yeah.They probably mean 'posable'. regular guy
' The Flashback reissue retains the vertical quad housings. ' That is very cool of AMT to dig that up. Check out the 'Edsel inspired' custom car grill. Not too shabby. Betcha most builder's today avoid those parts like the plague. List them on Ebay for $5.
Xingu
Reminder: Kit News & Reviews topics need to remain on topic. These areas were created to discuss, surprisingly enough, kit news and reviews. Please try to remain on topic (specific kit or directly related items) and not digress into general discussions. I also merged this with the previously started (by the same poster) thread on the same subject.

There was a custom styling front end extension that created that effect. You may have "worked hard" on your 'review' but if you present incorrect and or untrue information (as you regularly do) you should expect and accept correction gracefully. regular guy
' You may have "worked hard" on your 'review'' What's up with that? Here's what I said. ' Back then they worked hard to get that $1.99 out of customer.' Somebody brought up the Revell version that looked like a stock car.As I remember it. Okay. This AMT has a drag or gasser version. Anybody turned an AMT into a stock car? I better put AMT '57 Ford in here. There! Ford would have to wait until '58 for the new generation engines. bobthehobbyguy
So how are you doing a review of a kit when you don't have one? To review something you should have one in your possession.
regular guy
' To review something you should have one in your possession.' Why? Is it going to be somehow different than two or three we do get a year? That was three posts to get to your point. No more. You just go on without me. bobthehobbyguy
The answer to why is you would make fewer factual errors if you had the kit you were talking about in hand.
