Project next...next next next( I really need to retire that bit) with the two NASCAR builds on hold , might as well get start a new one right?, they wont build themselves, Ive asked.

Oh, and I would like to point out the paint, its not blue and you have no idea how hard it was not get the blue , OMG, like super hard.

As you can see, paint will be from Scalefinishes and is Mercedes Cardinal Red, wheels are from Plamoz

Before we get the paint-o-flying, need to address some fit issues, up first, is this , as you can see, the body will not seat properly onto the chassis plate

Here is what is causing it.

That piece in the kind of red square, the flat piece, that wont let the body sit all the way down.

And with the trusty set of spure cutters, the piece is removed.

And now, all snug .

This. Mine was a disaster. So disappointing to discover really late in the build.

I went through 3 bodies and 3 bumpers (all ordered from Revell-Germany/Revell USA) to get the right fit, and from my own observations, I think the problem was the body being slightly warped at the tail end. I also noticed that the affected bodies had a slightly different yellow molding color than the unaffected bodies.

I wrecked the body on mine. I’m looking to get another one. The Revell McLaren I have is terribly warped too. Revell has The worst packaging.

Ben

I agree 100% Ben, I loathe the Revell(of Germany) boxes,  if it makes ya feel any better, my McLaren body was damage too because of crappy boxes, but I was able to fixed it.

Cheers for the tip on the fitment issue! It'll be good to see one in Red!! Are you also using Plamoz's etch set? the plastic grill mesh is awful in the kit!

Agree on the boxes too, Tamiya / Fujimi / aoshima / Revell USA all have 2 part boxes that are so much easier to work out of!

Body in Tamiya Pink Primer and almost ready for paint.

There is a bit of wheel poke, to remedy that, I did this, on the left is out of the box, and on the right is after I removed that part, I also had to cut down the back side of the brake rotors ( not pictured right now)

And lowering the ride height was pretty easy, all I did was remove just a bit of the mounting tube that the spindles attach too.

And a mock up, looks a lot better , yes, the wheel are sunk in bit, the brake rotors will push them out

The engine and the extent of any detail painting, its simply not going to be seen

And the brakes

Its looking GREAT!!…..I use to detail everything whether it was seen or not, but these last few years, I've decided not to anymore. To me it wastes expensive supplies, and uses-up time that I can use on other builds.

It really is a time and supply waster in my opinion as well,  sometimes depending on mood, I might do the detailing, but most time if it wont be seen I wont.
