1958 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special

Perspective Customs

Recommended Posts

This Johan promo was pretty badly warped. I was able to get most of the body straightened out using the hot/cold water technique. The interior was beyond repair so I substituted one from a '59 Caddy sedan. The friction chassis was replaced with one from a '58 Chevy, extended to fit the Caddy wheelbase. Suspension lowered and hubcaps are '64 Caddy.  Paint is Tamiya Champagne Gold.

Love it!!

Great save, and I've got one of these too, but the X-EL version issued in the '80's. Good idea about the '58 Chevy chassis. I thought about using the '59 Caddy, but that might be a bit too big/wide considering this model wasn't quite 1/25 IMO. Johan made them a scooch undersized to fit their boxes back in those days.

I have one that I want to redo as well.

I had a 1:1 '58 Caddy 62 series coupe some years ago, so mine will at least need to reflect that one & will have to be painted "Tahitian Coral" with a black top. :)

Nice work on this one Jay!

I probably would not even attempt to try to straighten out one of these early promos.
