Jhedir6 Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 Mark, looking forward to another cool NASCAR wip from you. Check Ollie's. I was there today and picked up some Chase kits for $9.99. They also had some snappers too.
iBorg Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 Curious as to the differences between the snappers and the glue kits.

Just some slight differences to the grills mostly.and some of the chassis bracing on the interiors.
Jim N Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 You're of to a great start Mark. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Whats cool about the arca fords is that the car run in 2018 has 2013 nascar grille, headlights, and taillights.

MarkJ Posted September 28, 2018 Author Posted September 28, 2018 I think I have the body work done and the first coat of primer.
MarkJ Posted October 2, 2018 Author Posted October 2, 2018 Thanks, Jim. I really appreciate the feedback.
MarkJ Posted October 7, 2018 Author Posted October 7, 2018 Somebody asked me once how I lowered these kits. What I do is drill new holes in the frame 1/8 inch higher than the original holes and remove the front of the engine. Cut 1/8 inch off the metal axles. In the back you cut 1/8 inch off the posts that represent the rear springs. That's all you have to do. It lowers the car and sucks the tires in under the fenders.
MarkJ Posted October 12, 2018 Author Posted October 12, 2018 Got the chassis pretty much finished. Got the body painted but don't know if I should just leave it or polish it. Thoughts?
bbowser Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 Looks great! I vote to leave it, most race cars aren't that shiny unless they're show cars.
MarkJ Posted October 13, 2018 Author Posted October 13, 2018 Thanks, Bruce. I agree, its shiny , just not mirror shiny, which it doesn't need to be.
MarkJ Posted October 18, 2018 Author Posted October 18, 2018 (edited) Got the chassis and tires finished. Just need to paint the center hubs after the car is complete. Also, I have learned not to install the shark fin until the decaling is finished. I usually knock it off the car if I do it before. The tires wont be that shiny when the car is complete. I just finished applying the dull coat with a brush and they have not dried yet. Edited October 18, 2018 by MarkJ
Jim N Posted October 19, 2018 Posted October 19, 2018 Great work Mark. I agree with Bruce, I don't think I would polish the body.
MarkJ Posted October 19, 2018 Author Posted October 19, 2018 Thanks, Jim. I'm about half way through with the decaling so it wont be too much longer before it will be finished. Turning out better than I thought it would.
MarkJ Posted October 23, 2018 Author Posted October 23, 2018 Just finished the model. With any luck, I can take the photos this afternoon, and get them posted.
MarkJ Posted October 24, 2018 Author Posted October 24, 2018 Finally finished. Go to 2018 ARCA ford to see more pictures.
Scalper Posted October 24, 2018 Posted October 24, 2018 That looks great .. not a fan of the new cars but it looks cool to me
