Moebius '65 F-100 Flareside Pickup!

Recommended Posts

I had the privilege of unveiling pretty much final round test shots of this upcoming Moebius kit, this past Sunday at the Classic Plastic Model Car Show in Massachusetts.  It was well-received:

Looks pretty good to me, plus it has a 6!! It's being ripped to shreds on another forum.

Give it time, I'm sure it will be shredded here too. It takes a while to find something that's 0.07 100 thousands of a millimeter off.

I see the '65 has '66 hubcaps and wheels?  Check out the 61-66 1:1 reference section..  The grill and the '66 hubcaps look excellent, very nicely done.

No doubt. It seems some just have to find something wrong with a new tool. I understand it when major issues occur, case in point the first issue of Revell's 69 Charger, but small things? There is no such thing as a perfect model. Let's say the fan belts were actually done to scale, they would be so fragile you could not remove the part from the tree, then there would be a outrage about that. I find it much easier and a much happier time when I try to find the good in a new kit.

I've only built a couple of pickups, but I like this one.  Kind of "classic".

Flareside is the term that Ford used and is generally considered interchangeable with stepside for that style of bed.

You might be right Al, I don't remember the "flareside" name being used till the 80s or 90s.

I'm not positive about that, but I am positive that one of the experts will set us straight.

It's not going to keep me from buying one though, I think it looks great.

Where is it being ripped to shreds? I'd like to see what is said and if it is justified or not. I think it looks pretty good but I'm not very familiar with the subject.

Here's a little something coming down the pike for 1/25th scale model builders. I believe this will be the first utility truck bed ever available in a plastic kit. Disregard the wheels in the pic though... the kit will have the stock wheels.

I like the utility box.  This was the first thing I though if when I saw the truck kit.  Not sure why, though.
