Casey
Were the three 1961 model year kits listed in the below ad the first of AMT's Sytline kits? Looks like SMP joined the party at some point, too, at least with Plymouth Valiant kit: Edited November 1, 2018 by Casey
SfanGoch
I ran across an SMP '60 Valiant body on ebay a day or so ago.
Ace-Garageguy
Though not "Styline" but "Styling", the '57 T-bird with clay and carving tools pre-dates those shown above...

I have one of these and IIRC it’s actually a ‘55 T-Bird.
Bucky
According to this: The "Styling" kit is a '55 T'bird, issued in '55 as kit number 300. Listed as RARE. The following one doesn't actually have the word "Styline" on the box, but it does have all the Styline type stuff in it, and the above guide lists it as a "Styline" kit: \ According to the guide, the '57 wasn't issued until '62. I had one as a wee lad, and my memory of the kit is imprecise. I also recall mine was molded in light green, but research shows it to have only been offered in white, light blue, and red. I wonder how many of these actually got "styled" with anything even remotely resembling what those cool clay rakes could do in the hands of someone competent. I DO know that the entire concept was beyond me at the time. Edited November 3, 2018 by Ace-Garageguy
Bucky
I notice the chassis plate is metal. Are the bumpers metal, as well?

Yes...according to my possibly flawed memory. In actuality, it's essentially an acetate annual with extras. Note the body warp.
Bucky
I see it, now that you mention it. Not easily fixable, is it?

I believe 1956 was the last year all AMT models (Buick, Cadillac, Ford, Lincoln, Dodge, Studebaker, Thunderbird) used metal bumpers.

It’s a neat kit, but I’ve never seen one built. Mine hasn’t even been started.

Eshaver
Here is my "Lone " survivor , a 1961 Ford Ranchero that survived the Hurricane / Flood we had in Richmond Va back in 1972 .
Mark
The side panel of the Corvair and Valiant boxes lists an El Camino (presumably the '60) as being available...but it never appeared in this series.
