Now I think this is silly

Someone had fun building it, if you look close there are a number of very creative artist touches. I would think if  the front of the cab was stretched to the engine it would drastically change the look. Regardless, it's an individuals creative vision and labour of love.

It's art, it's won awards at big car/rat rod shows - have seen it a couple of times and had a close look - the metal work and art on the cab are amazing - If you see it in person, you won't walk by without taking a longer look.

Well, considering that art is subjective and a Jackson Pollock paint splatter is considered art as well then neither is my preferred taste in art. To each his own I guess.

...I'd really like to see what is under the tarp, though.

With those wheels, there's a good chance it's a little F3 car, a Brabham, or a Cooper T-56, rather like this...(Steve McQueen owned and raced one in SoCal in 1962. It was raced very successfully by another owner through 1965.)

NOTE: My eyes aren't focusing yet this AM. If it's not a Cooper, it's something very similar.

EDIT 2 : Nope. Not a T-56:   Early Corvair 'cabover' race car hauler. â@SkipHopStop: @AmeriCarnaTV â - I'd tweet this to stump you⦠â

Here ya go on the transporter...   Owned by Dean Moon (yeah, Moon Equipped). Built in '61 with a '59 El Camino cab on a modified Mercedes 300S chassis, Chevy V8 powered.    https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2008/10/16/the-cheetah-transporter-an-unlikely-el-camino/

Cool. There is just something about that era of race cars that I can't resist.

That car definitely wasn't built for gas mileage. But cool to see it still exists, although not in great shape.

Thanks,

Russ
