Tamiya Fair 2018

And of course BMW had some of the best looking Corvair clones.  That rear engine may have been a bit of a dead end, but it seems everyone wanted to copy that body.

Well I'll be darned, but Tamiya did do a 1/10 R/C of it in Jagerbomb livery at some point in the past.

Some point in the past being 2017, not that long ago really......

I have been hoping Tamiya (or Fujimi) would decide to doing a full detail  Ferrari 330 GTS, one of the most beautiful Ferrari designs. I would look great to next their M-B 300 SL and fit into that group. Since they have done so many Ferraris, I am sure licensing would not be an issue. I keep hoping and think this would a be huge selling kit.

The flyer I saw posted by Tamiya on FB showed a pic of a TSO50 Hybrid race car, but everything was in Japanese so I don't know if it is going to be a kit or an RC car or what...

Edit: went back and saw the translation--it's a 1/10th scale RC car.

Beautiful Ferrari...I saw one in 'barn find' shape that had had an underhood fire at the Gooding & Co auction in Scottsdale a few years ago.

While we're on that subject, some of us have been pining for a 250 Lusso how long now?  10 years? Since Hasegawa fired off their pontoon-fendered TR salvo and Fujimi answered with a GTO to beat all its plastic predecessors?

Be great if Tamiya tossed their hat into the 250 ring.

Liking the idea of the NSU better and better, though...

The commentary I saw was some place in Germany that sold R/C items. But not being German, and machine translations being what they are it didn't say when it was released or if it was in stock.

A 250 Lusso or a California that wasn't buried in Italeri's tooling vault would be something special.

On the other hand, if I were to make a request it would be that Tamiya revisit their line of fantastic classic sports and touring cars from the mid 90's and give us an Austin Healey 3000 MkII to go with their Morgan Plus Four and Lotus Europa kits.

Yeah, its the 1/10 RC, that's why I think they're gonna do it in 1/24 too. At least thats my hope.

Not sure if it has anything to do with any new kit announcement, but Tamiya will have a real TS050 on display.

Well makes me think even more that the TS050 in 1/24 is even more likely now. If so, I'm a happy camper. Looking forward to an affordable LMP1 car.

Probably the safe bet. Looking forward to tomorrow’s announcement.

Seeing how a potential kit purchase of the NSU pocket rocket, which is btw total cult in Europe, despite being looked at with a slightly raised eyebrow, isn't instantly dismissed even on a forum heavily gravitating towards American muscle cars, wouldn't make Tamiya's decision, if it where, seem that unreasonable now, would it?

There have been quite a few releases lately from various kit manufacturers that at first glance seemed to be way out of the mainstream, but turned out to be surprisingly popular.
Would any of you have ever anticipated a kit of the BMW 02, the MK1 Essie, or the Opel Manta? Let alone a Porsche tractor?

The Mk1 escort didn’t surprise me. The Porsche tractor was a pleasant surprise, so much that I’ve bought a second one. That being said, tractor kits seem to sell well. I’m even looking forward to the Yanmar tractor from hasegawa. I’ve just ordered the Revell Porsche 356 coupe and Revell Ford GT LeMans. I don’t think Revell will have an issue selling those.

Imagine how well the Yanmar would sell had they made it in the correct scale.

From what I understand the Ertl tractor kits weren't part of the sale to Round2, which is too bad, as imagine there would be some interest in American tractors.  Some of the bigger 4WD tractors are petty wild pieces of machinery, though I imagine a 1/24 kit might be a little pricey

Correct scale...in your opinion. Even though there are only something like a half dozen tractors ever in 1/2x, and only a couple or other pieces of construction equipment.

Yet the majority of tractors and all the rest of that stuff (including the rest of Hasegawa's newer line) is 1/35 military scale. I mean I understand the "that would be nice" of it being in automotive scale, but based on the actual evidence involved it seems like 1/2x would be the wrong scale.

According to MegaHobby, it's a Ford GT.  I was hoping for the TS050....46452271_10155830927467023_1807300192089669632_n.jpg.8ea8085711ac82f4ef16c1978ea1ef63.jpg

Wow! I’m surprised again. I like the subject, so I’m happy.  Maybe the TS050 will be some other time.

Wow. I'm happy. If its a full detailed kit. But surprised by a Ford tho. With the release of the TS050 in 1/32 and 1/10 the 1/24 kit made sense to me.

But this is good too. Surprised Tamiya didnt have it up on their FB page if Mega Hobby is listing it.

The line for everyone who always claims they'd buy Tamiya kits if they made U.S. cars starts over there. Put up or shut up in January.
