67 Buick GS 400

I was hoping Round 2 would do one from the butchered '66 GS tooling (if it still exists), but I'm not going to get my hopes up.  The '65 GS and '65 442 are other obvious cars that would sell very well, and I would rather see than another Camaro or Chevelle.

It probably wouldn't be any (or much) harder to do a '67 GS from the butchered '66 molds than to restore them as a proper '66. I too would love to see a '65 GS, as I drove a '65 Special 2DS in high school. I just ordered a '65 4-4-2 in resin from MCW and will post pics and a report when I get it.

'66 to '69 Buick Skylarks are needed in today's modeling world.

I'd say '64 to '67. The '68s and '69s don't do a thing for me; I always thought they were far and away the ugliest of the whole '64-'72 GM A-body family, but hey, that's just me so nobody get offended, please.

That said, if someone kitted a '68-'69 GS at standard price (not, say, Moebius price), I might have to build one just for the sake of "completeness."

That's part of the reason why I like the '68/'69 Skylark.

It's unique.

When I look at a '67 Skylark in profile, there is little to differentiate it from a Chevelle.

The '68/'69 Skylark has it's own unique styling.

Just my opinion.

I agree!  Give us a ‘68 and ‘69.  While I like the ‘67 I can scratch that itch with the ‘66.

While we are on the subject Buick Grand Sports, we have models of nearly every muscle car ever produced from 1968/'69, yet the Buick GS is conspicuously absent from that list.

How about one of those?

That's a nice model! I see that Perry's Resin still has it listed at $55, which isn't a horrible price if such a nice model can be built from it.

Was this recently? I haven't ordered from him in over 10 years now because of his delivery issues. I do have two of his 68 GS kits and they are pretty nice but the chrome is more gold. I wanted to turn one into a 69 GS 400 Stage 1 convertible!

In my recent book, I have a section at the end of each chapter called "Missing in Action".  This includes both muscle cars that have never been kitted in 1/24th-1/25th scales, and muscle cars that need a newly tooled kit (due to past kits being poorly rendered, permanently out of production, or otherwise unavailable at any where near reasonable prices to today's collectors and builders).

DSC 0601

Chapter 4 covers Pontiac, Olds, and Buick muscle era car kits.  Don't have a picture handy, but below is a copy of the text of the "Missing in Action" box at the end of that chapter:. The 1967 GS-400 discussed in this thread is, of course, one of the "MIA kits in the list below.

MISSING IN ACTION

A> GTO/442/Gran Sport kits yet to appear in any 1/24th-1/25th scale kit

* 1970 & 1971 GTO Judge Hardtop and Convertible (1970 with optional RA-IV engine, 1971 with the 455 HO engine)

* 1971 GT-37 w/400 4-bbl

* 1973 GTO or GrandAm Coupe with (for extra credit) the planned – but not produced – 455 Super Duty engine

*****

* 1964 & 1965 442

* 1968-1970 F85/Cutlass with W-31 package

* 1970 Olds Rallye 350

******

* 1965, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1971 & 1972 Gran Sport, including 1969-1972 Stage 1

* 1967 GS-340, 1968-1970 GS-350

B> GTO/442/Gran Sport kits that need a new/modern kit offering

* 1965, 1967, 1968, 1970, 1971, and 1972 GTO (1970 to include RA-IV engine; 1971 to include 455 HO engine)

* 1968 442 Hardtop and Convertible

* 1970-1971 442 Hardtop and Convertible with W-30 package

Also....FWIW I hear that there may be at least one kit released next year that falls within the 1964-1972 GM A-Body BOP category....hope it actually materializes!   TIM

Tim; that's an excellent listing that I'm certain I'll refer back to many times in the future! But, why-o-why did you have to add that FWIW comment at the end... that'll do nothing but get hopes up and make me lose some sleep as I dream for what that future release might be!!!
