Sergey Posted November 2, 2019 Author Share Posted November 2, 2019 Let's continue: Sonoma's rear axle back part was horrible. New one was made of acril bead & styrol. I've casted Ford's rear axle, cut off the excess and added semi axles of profiles + steal spike. Let's glue it together... ...add epoxy putty... ... and get TopKick rear axle. It was time to make fasteners for axles to springs, and this is a tedious job. I worked on the front of the frame. It tapers to the bumper Cut off the excess plastic, made the front crossbar and added styrene on top The gearbox of the front axle was not quite correct, if you look at the photo from updates abowe. I cut it up and reversed the parts however the front and rear of the gearbox did not quite match. Made a spacer I couldn't resist trying it all on Now it's ready to attach the wheels and I can make up the cab. But while we're quarantined, I'll get another Pickup. Unfortunatelly they 1/25 (white one). I also have Asto van, which is 1/24, bud they are different (black one). I also wiĺl copy Astro steering wheel (grey one). The question is which steering wheel column to copy for TopKick? Asrto's (grey) or Silverado's (white)? What do you think? Now I have copied the steering wheel, wheel column, side mirrors and passenger handle from Silverado kit The first casting brings me some air bubbles So I will try again. It seems body hight is about 65 inches. Overall Savanna's height is 82 inches. Can it be: clearence between body and ground - 17 inches? Does anyone have GMC Savanna, TopKick- Pickup/Chevrolet Express, Kodiak-Pickup near to measure? I need body bottom edge to ground measure. As I came to assemble a 1999 Silverado on a nearby topic, and Silverado & TopKick have the same bed, it is better to take measurements from Silverado bed, when it not glued to frame. And before that it's better to make cab. Armed with PDF-files Cab have rounded sides... ...so I desided to cut them from vent tube Printed drawings and glued on Back wall has difficult shape. It has a step outwards to increase cab space 2,5 inch more. So I divided this element to 3 pieces. The first one, which is reflecting the back contour of a cab I cut from styrene. It was mistake. It don't keep flat shape. Next I tried transparent plastic from candy box. Here is how looks pattern. Cutouts are not ready jet Sandwiched back wall. By the way, does anyone have a picture of 2000 TopKick's firewall? The only photo I could find was this ...but I'm afraid it's 1990 TopKick. butter Posted March 12, 2021 Share Posted March 12, 2021 Try super glue gel 80 to 90% and testors liquid cement, for the rest. I find this combo really keeps things together. The bond isn't "brittle" like super glue alone, and you have a little time to move parts around because the liquid cement seems to slow the super glue curing time by several seconds. Roof bending should be smooth and have bigger angle. So I inserted 1mm square rod between layers. different view Also right stand was accidently cut in process (marked by arrow) and glued back/ :sorry: Final stage so far, but stands should be bended more.
