yellowsportwagon
First off many many thanks to JustJake for the body!! I will be doing some corrections along with some mods to this body. It will hopefully go on an AMT 66 442 chassis. A 69 Riv gave up its engine for this build.

yellowsportwagon
Reshaped the rear end some today. The two body lines on the top of the trunk lid don’t belong. And it needs one on the back of trunk.
bbowser
That's a good looking body. Watching with interest.
yellowsportwagon
Progress pictures. Had to shorten the frame and floor at the rear. Narrow the frame rails by the tires. Hog out the wheelhouses too. Added a 9”Ford rear. Made a frt and rear firewalll. The 442 firewall was too tall and had too much stuff molded in. yellowsportwagon
Drilled the spring pockets through the frame and floor. This will lower the rear even without cutting springs. Added these spacers. They have a smaller I’d than the holes I drilled so they limit the springs from falling through. They also look like spring pockets for screwjacks. yellowsportwagon
Cut the control arm and spring perches from the old axle and put them on the new one.Quick mock-up for stance.
yellowsportwagon
Capped off the top of the frame rails. Engine test fit. Had to move the oil pan sump to the rear. Rivs had an odd center sump. Edited January 5, 2019 by yellowsportwagon
MarkJ
This is already looking awesome. I have a feeling the finished build will look better then the real car. Thanks for keeping the pictures coming.

yellowsportwagon
Got this thing de trimmed. Opened the rear wells a bit and flared them out slightly. Also pulled the bottom rear of the rockers out in frt of the rear tires.
MarkJ
Great idea on the fenders and quarters to help it look even more authentic.
yellowsportwagon
Added vinyl top moldings. Car had a painted hardtop which used the moldings.
yellowsportwagon
Also built up the hood edges. Hood was way narrow. And built the engine cage. Engine and radiator test fit again
MarkJ
Glad your addressing the hood fit issues. Nothing is more disappointing then to see a finished build with a hood that's not flush or huge gaps.
yellowsportwagon
Painted the frame and put the body in filler primer.”

yellowsportwagon
I’m pretty proud of my cobbled rollbar. Made from MPC Johan and Polar Lights parts. The frt down bars are the only pieces I had to make.
yellowsportwagon
Forgot to add above that I had to build a package shelf for this car. Looking closer at pictures all that metal remained intact on this car. Got a fuel cell made roll bar door and interior painted

TarheelRick
Very nice work on one of the back markers of NASCAR., Wondering about the exterior door handles, shouldn't they have been removed?
yellowsportwagon
Not yet if you look at photos most cars had them on until 68-68 seasons. 33 minutes ago, TarheelRick said: Very nice work on one of the back markers of NASCAR., Wondering about the exterior door handles, shouldn't they have been removed?
