BMW Isetta custom

This Revell kit is nice quality. The parts required minimal cleanup and virtually snap together.

I'm giving this a custom paint job, tinted glass and a wheel swap.

Silver base first, then some tape lines:

Is that 1/16 scale?

Yes Tom, it is.

I've got some 17" BBS wheels on order from Japan. As they're 1/24, they should lower the ride height a bit, without looking like go-kart wheels.

 I tried 14 & 15", but they looked a tad small:

Cheers!

I got a bit more masking and paint on today. I'm hoping the green, silver and the fade will go as I imagine, under the green candy. I'll do that tomorrow night after work.

oh, I also found some bullet tail lights that I'll make some chrome bezels for. They give it a more 'Jetsons' look.

Got the clearcoat on, yesterday. Had to bury the flake a bit. It was a rough finish. I'm always pleased with how a clearcoat transforms paint. I do love a bit of sparkle ?

I've just chopped off the lower suspension arms and taken a bit out of the upper supports. To get wheel clearance, I'll need to remove the upper section of this support. So I added styrene blocks to the insides of these and epoxied them to the arches. When I chop out the tops with a Dremel, the epoxied blocks should hold the remaining part of the support in place.

Then I'll be able to sit the nose lower and tuck the wheels in, a bit.
