I'm giving this a custom paint job, tinted glass and a wheel swap. As they're 1/24, they should lower the ride height a bit, without looking like go-kart wheels. I'm hoping the green, silver and the fade will go as I imagine, under the green candy. I'll do that tomorrow night after work. oh, I also found some bullet tail lights that I'll make some chrome bezels for. They give it a more 'Jetsons' look. I love this part! it's important to remember that it's not a case of getting a glossy finish with the candy. The clearcoat will take care of the gleam ? geetee66 Posted February 3, 2019 Author Share Posted February 3, 2019 Got the clearcoat on, yesterday. Had to bury the flake a bit. It was a rough finish. I'm always pleased with how a clearcoat transforms paint. I do love a bit of sparkle ? I've just chopped off the lower suspension arms and taken a bit out of the upper supports. To get wheel clearance, I'll need to remove the upper section of this support. So I added styrene blocks to the insides of these and epoxied them to the arches. When I chop out the tops with a Dremel, the epoxied blocks should hold the remaining part of the support in place. Then I'll be able to sit the nose lower and tuck the wheels in, a bit. geetee66 Posted February 11, 2019 Author Share Posted February 11, 2019 Got the carpet flocked and some of the interior gubbins fitted. also spent all of Saturday polishing the paint down to 8000 grit, followed by Tamiya polishing compound, waxed and polished with detailer spray.
