gotnitro?
Well I hit a major issue...after mounting everything up , my cab and hood are seriously crooked. I noticed an issue after installing the hood w the etch grill..thinking it was my hinges I swapped the grill for the kit one..it didnt help I popped the cab off the mounts , installed hood then remounted cab..now its sitting like this. the hoods in the holes , no idea why it's so wacky ..but decided I better revisit this project after cooling down. I really considered myself a dog person..but lately I'm not sure..glad our Lab is loyal lol Any suggestions to fix it are welcome , I think it's the new frame rails made from the same tree lowes lumber comes from lol I might try using an older frame and drop the cab on it
dodgefever
It looked fine in your mock up the other week and all the wheels appear to be touching the "ground"? The hood's obviously off to the bumper, so something's out of whack. Have a break and come back to it with fresh eyes.
gotnitro?
Well..its resolved. I ended up mocking up a spare chassis and everything dropped in perfect. Guess I tweaked the first chassis assembling it . Now a few more parts to install and the new frame will be ready for paint ! My buddy tbill hooked me up with a few pics of a properly assembled truck, and I spotted my firewall wasnt tight against the cowl, a quick tweak had that sorted out ! Thanks tbill And its sitting level on all the mounts now too bad I ruined the etch grill screwing with the other frame

gotnitro?
Thanks I appreciate the feedback ! 11 hours ago, Jimbo8v92 said: Looks great!! Ashame u cant reuse the etch grille Yeah that etch grill really looked sharp. Hardest part using the etch grill was attaching the hinges in correct spot since the holes were molded into plastic grille. It would take serious surgery to remove this one now. I made a spacer for the other ones before I found my alignment issues Maybe on the next one haha Edited March 10, 2019 by gotnitro?
gotnitro?
I puttered w the tanker while paint dried on my new chassis , detailed out the front fenders. Ribs from half round, and small loops of solder replicate the u bolts seen on my reference. The fenders came from Jamie at moluminum The ladder was extremely fun. .080 rod w 060 steps . The top treads are perforated sheet ( gorgeous pattern) I bought from KFS . back to the Mack thanks for watching

gotnitro?
I finally got back into working on the Mack, and now its falling together. I wanted to add a few personal touches , so I added a couple fog lights below bumper. Also what road tractor wouldn't have a CB antenna? I bummed one from the 4300 kit. The mount is just a scrap piece of angle mounted just above the drivers window .The fuel tank steps needed something , so scraps of perforated photoetch was attached . Lastly the exhaust stack was replaced w a curved top. My fellow builders pointed out a large empty space behind the cab before the rear tandems, a set of half fenders from the snap KW fit the bill..and will compliment the trailer fenders ! Enough gab enjoy the pics !

I love the challenge of making parts from photos, and appreciate the company allowing me access to their trailers. I get caught up trying to make everything I see , which most people will likely never notice.. Back to the Mack, last night I added the door graphics custom made by Joe Shultz of diecast and decals , absolutely awesome work !! The decals are in perfect register and no bleed thru over the mica red.. Last item on the list , ya cant have operate a pneumatic trailer without a blower ! I used the large aux air tank chopped in half wrapped w 010 thou for tank body. The rest is odd bits added . The top hex pipe fittings were added , mounting strap, and it's off to paint Heres its home, PTO drive w mount tabs .. gotnitro?
Well I'm calling this build finished ! I'll post better pics in glass once weather gets better those psycho air lines will be secured to tanker once complete until then it has bad hair day Changing the exhaust stack really looks better to me, probably not authentic but I prefer them. Thanks for watching!
