That's a nice car...... Probably something not often seen there!

For sure was! No those years are kind of rare these days. They where never cared for since many old American cars was considered junk in the 80’s and late 70’s car was regarded worse than the earlier Ones.

Tom,

The origin of mine goes back to the nineties when I was trying to come up with my first name (Acarnut). I have always loved cars, even since I was little, much the way other kids liked trains, dinosaurs or animals.  Problem is, I never outgrew it.

When I needed a new one, I just added a couple numbers to it.

By the time I had joined here, I was into Old Cars, so I tried that and I added the 27 to it as that is my wife's birthday. It was accepted - I had no idea there was another oldcarfan on here until I had seen his name some months later. GMTA!

My avatar is the Firebird because that was one of my first favorite cars and the movie Smokey and the Bandit left an indelible impression on me.

In fact, in my garage is a project 78 Trans Am that my kids and I are going to be working on as soon as I can get my work situation stabilized.

Problem?  I don't see that as a problem at all. :D

This is one of those threads I envoy seeing reviewed.

First name, last initial, and critter since I thought it sounded good, plus a play on words from Crispy Critters cereal - sounds like a nickname from third grade, but I first made it up in 2011 when I joined the Hokey Ass Message Board (the H.A.M.B.). And if you've ever seen The Sunshine Boys, you'll remember "woids wit a K sound are funny". :)

My user name? My parents came up with it!

Before I was born both grandfathers wanted the first grandchild named after them.. and my father didn’t want to name me after himself because I’d suffer Junior syndrome.

I was named Thomas because it was totally neutral!

I narrowly escaped being Alfred, Hubert or Little Artie. It’s a good thing.

I saw 4mula1 on the license plate of the most awesome F40 I have ever seen. I still remember how that little beast smelled. I was at the 2005 USGP in Indy. The car was from Michigan,  so it was a driver. Far from perfect, but awesome!

That was also the race very few cars ran in. It was terrible. The tire fiasco.

Got hung with the nickname in school since most couldn't pronounce my last name and there were already to many Davids around. Funny thing is that my father had the same nickname when he was in school.

My user name was inspired by my favourite Hot Rod, Pete Chapouris´ California Kid which I also built in scale some years ago:

And I live in Cologne, Germany Which is Köln in german. In our local idiom (Kölsch) we call our home town Kölle, so California + Kölle = Koellefornia. (the german ö is pronounced "ø" and is written "oe" for languages which do not have mutated vowels).

And though I'm in my mid 40s now, I still feel like a kid, so I think Koellefornia Kid fits quiet nice...

Like "Keef Richards"?

Or Keef Hartley?

Somewhere in one of my early 1970s Rod & Custom mags there's a shot of a T-bucket with a rear window that spells out "Keef" - when I find it I'll scan it.

Thirty years ago I became a cop, and my agency assigned me my initials and badge number as my employee ID. Four years ago I took my retirement and moved west for warmer pastures and a retirement gig as a criminal investigator, but no matter how many other badges I am assigned, I will forever think of myself as ea0863.

Cool post. Mine is from the love of my life. Way back in 86 i was 23 in the Army stationed at ft knox, close to home, Louisville. A buddy and I was cruising Cherokee park. Seen a few groups of girls and could not decide which one to stop and talk to. Then i seen her, these yellow shorts on thicker tan legs. As i was walking up to her i felt like i was in a cartoon, you know floating 2 ft off the ground stars flying around my head. After talking to her and getting her name number and a little kiss i knew i found the one. My name is Tony and hers is Tina. Some times friends would say here comes " TnT".

I retired from police work and moved west. After becoming bored I took a job with a state police agency (Nevada Gaming Control Board) that refers to it's employees as "agents". During my indoctrination week, myself and several others were mentored by a pompous ass who kept referring to our new status as "agents of the board" . After hours of agent this and agent that, the vision of Men in Black popped into my head. Because it's a little known agency outside Nevada and the fact I live in 85 miles from Area 51, my moniker was a given.

Here we have IGC. Indiana Gaming Commission.  I was as casino/slot tech for 5 years. We had black uniforms, a few departments did. But the techs got the name " men in black."  Go to work on a game and the reps would say, here they come, here come the men in black.

Bainford is my high school nickname. Back then, in our core group of friends there were two of us named Trevor. This occasionally caused some confusion ("Hey guys, were all meeting at Trevor's place on Saturday") so one of the guys said one of the Trevors needs a nickname. My last name is Bain and I was into Fords, so I was tagged with Bainford. It was a stupid and contrived name, and I hated it, which is a sure way for it to stick. Eventually it became my sole identifier. The name died when I left my home town in my mid-twenties, but when I joined my first internet forum in the early 2000s, I resurrected it as my screen name.
