That Cady must be huge.  Looks like all four doors open.  How did they do that?  More pictures please.

It is pretty large.  Yes all four doors open.  Fronts are the old dog legs.   Can't remember how the rear operate.     Working suspension too.  Glove box door opens.  I'll try to do a more indepth thread on it soon.

1/18 Biante James Courtney 2016 ANZAC Appeal Tribute V8 Supercars Holden VF Commodore.

33355562358_c853313198.jpg

After being introduced in the 2013 season, Holden Racing Team’s ANZAC tribute has become an annual initiative by Holden and HRT. It is supported by the Returned & Services League (RSL), with the livery raising awareness and funds for the RSL’s annual ANZAC Appeal. The 2016 version has Holden’s famous HRT lion and driver logo replaced by the RSL’s ANZAC Appeal Rising Sun logo, with a silhouette of ANZAC diggers from the original Gallipoli landing featuring on each side of the car and bonnet.

Part proceeds of the sale of this model will be donated to the RSL’s ANZAC Appeal.

Stopped at Rite Aid on my way home from work and liberated a Welly '57 Corvette. Wasn't gonna buy it and then I realized it was black and would thus be my 15th black diecast Chevy.

The checkout girl even keyed in her own "discount club" card for me on it (I didn't ask her to) so I was out the door for under $9 cash!

Was out of town and spotted a Rite Aid along the way.  Found a silver Welly Mercedes 300SL to go with my red one.

Mine had one of those in the other day. Wish they'd had it when I bought the red one. I'd rather have silver, but I just don't see myself owning two of them. Oh well. The red one's cool too.

One of the easiest Snake-Fus I've ever done. It doesn't take much to get it looking really sharp.

These came in the mail today, a WIX NAPA version of the 427 Cobra and a Motormax 2005 Ford GT.  The WIX Cobra is the Elvis Presley Spin Out movie race version without windshield and is up to their usual high standard but I am a bit disappointed in the finish on the side pipes.  The side pipes which are prototypically correct for the movie car but look so much better on the blue and silver WIX Cobras.  Franklin Mint released the same Spin Out model but with a guitar.

The Motormax Ford GT is pretty much standard fare but I wanted to include this year in my diecast Ford GT collection.  It is a bit strange that there are no side windows included.  I do prefer the Revell Snap Tite version though.

Liove the details on the 427 Cobra. I do agree, however, r the side pipes. Personally I would prefer a more metallic color.

I also like the model of the Chrysler LeBaron Town and Country with all the details including the wood paneling. However, I never liked these cars in real life, LOL.

The mailperson brought a Crown Premiums 1963 Corvette Sting Ray coupe as released by NAPA.  I was excited to get it as an addition to my diecast Split Window Coupe collection.  As I opened the box I was excited to see the proportions seemed correct and there were a lot of operational features including the headlamps, gas cap, and radio antenna, neat stuff.  Then the saddening realization that Crown Premiums had included the A pillars with the vent window!!!!  Upon further reflection the door frame trim and vent window are messed up.  I am very disappointed because other wise it is quite nice.

After another look I see under the crossed flags on the front fender says 396 Turbo Jet instead of Fuel Injection and the front peak of the rear fender should drop down further.

Today I picked up this Lansdowne Models 1930 Bentley 8 Litre in 1:43 scale, which is a white metal model and Made in England.

The model car is very heavy and highly accurate in the detail. It is a limited edition with only 125 models made.

That is an impressive score David.  So much detail packed into a 1/43rd model.

Yes Gary, I too was very impressed by the amount of detail that has been packed into a small scale car like this. Even the door handles are separate parts. The road wheels do not turn, but then you wouldn't want this expensive model to roll off the table would you? Today I received the glazing units in the post, and these are the ones that were missing from the 1:43 scale station platform lamps, that I want to use with the LED lights you kindly sent me. I am hoping to run the light cable / wire through several street lamps as well as inside the Hooper building itself.

Nice additions.  And thanks Gramps, for the mini review of the 63 SW.    I have looked at that one several times.

Anglia,  that is a really nice 1/43.   I would have thought it a larger scale from the photos.

  • 2 weeks later...

While the 240Z is out of my normal model lane I always liked it and wanted to buy one in 1971 but with a new baby we had to settle for a Vega GT Kammback instead.  So after getting my kart filled with bird food at Walmart I felt it was appropriate to check out diecasts and was surprised to find this M2 Nissan 1970 Fairlady 240Z.  Yes it is a Nissan and not a Datsun.  The first give away are the mirrors and then the steering wheel on the right hand side.  Just wished it had a body colored hood and stock wheels.  But wait, this model is the high performance Z432 with the S20 engine so is correct for what it is.

There was also a 1952 VW Beetle b y M2 but it did not look right to me.  The wheels looked small and the roof looked inflated so it did not follow me home.
