What diecast did you get today?

Once again temptation overcame restrain and I just received the Greenlight BRE 1970 Datsun 240Z as raced by Pete Brock and driven by John Morton.  Back in the day this was a very popular and successful, C Production Champion, race car and went a long way to promote the 240Z here in the states.

Revell made this as a 1/25 plastic kit and I should have keep my build as it was a well done kit.  The Greenlight diecast looks good to me with the 2 exceptions being the tires look too narrow and the windshield trim too wide.  See the 1:1 photo below.  Both could be fixed if you choose too.

I built the plastic as a kid (glue bomb).   Then again as an adult.  It can be fiddly to build but can make a nice replica.  Same as the 510.  I sold my plastic kit and this one is exciting to look at, just doen't fit my collection right now.   Love the BRE racers in general.  What a guy he was!  My favorite era of racing.

I have always liked the Datsun 240Z since the 1970's and that is a nicely turned out diecast model. I picked up these two models in 1:43 recently..... one is the diecast Bedford OB Coach by IXO/ Hatchette, and the other is a resin Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Hooper Empress by BoS ( Best of Show ).

  • 2 weeks later...

Picked up this 1:43 scale diecast Ford Thames ET6 lorry, which has a load of Calor Gas butane bottles. The lettering will be changed to ' Watson Fuels ' for my diorama, so the spelling mistake on the front of the cab roof does not matter.

Thanks to the perpetual road construction between home and Indianapolis, I was late for the open house at Greenlights corporate office.  Managed to grab these for $20/each.  The Yenko Camaro is missing a wiper......don't see anything damaged on the Trans am.

Was in a town about 40 miles away today and spotted a Rite Aid. They had several gold '65 Rivieras, which I hadn't seen before, and the VERY nice 427 Cobra in dark blue with white stripes (I already have the red one), but I walked out with another '72 Trans Am in white (as you'll read soon, I was VERY impressed with the blue one I just finished), a red '63 Corvette (I already have at least 3 diecast '63 Vettes, but I realized I didn't have a Welly--and it looked VERY nice), and some kind of high-zoot BMW sports car (Z4, maybe?) to keep my Porsches and RX-7 company on the sport car shelf. Oh, they also had the blue '68 4-4-2. Already have one, but gave serious though to grabbing another just for swap fodder.

Now that is my kind of Rite Aid Snake.  I can't figure out why some are a total waste land and some are a gold mine.

Not so much a matter of location, as of timing. I've seen really good stuff in my home store, and then dregs for weeks at a time. I guess it depends on how much they sell and how much they need restocked.
