OldTrucker
Just saw that he has passed away at the age of 57 years young. He was awaiting a kidney transplant but unfortunately it was not to be. A great loss to the art world and Nascar history.

espo
He was a great artist. I have one of his drawings of Dale Earnhardt on the wall, signed by Dale, next to my computer.
madhorseman
Back in the mid '90s I bought a Davey Allison lithograph from the Sam Bass Studio. For whatever reason delivery was delayed for about 6 months. When I did receive it, I got the litho, another Ricky Craven litho, a poster AND.....an additional autographed Davey sketch in the border of the Allison lithograph! He seemed to be a really Great guy. R I P Sam Bass Edited February 19, 2019 by madhorseman
Jim N
That's too bad. I enjoyed his work. I remember several years ago, Sam designed the trophy for Kentucky Speedway ( I think) and Kyle Busch won. The trophy was a guitar. Busch did his best Pete Townsend impersonation and destroyed the trophy in Victory Lane. The network showed Sam Bass as Busch was going through his antics. It was hard for me to tell whether he was amused or perturbed. Later, Sam said he thought it was funny. I am not sure I would take to kindly to seeing someone destroy a piece of art I worked hard to create.
