Snake45
Another $10 Rite Aid rescue. Have seen these around for a couple years and was never that impressed with them, but was looking for a quick, cheap project. Required less than three hours of 1st Degree Snake-Fu and I was absolutely AMAZED at the transformation. White on headlight stems, white Sharpie on backup lights. Red Sharpie on rear side marker lights. White Sharpie, then Testor Orange and Turn Signal Amber to detail the front parking lights/side markers. Testor Aluminum to detail the sheetmetal areas around the headlights and grille that were molded in chrome. Thinned the U-handle shifter a little and painted the handle black. Tamiya Metallic Gray on the wheel spokes. And, finally, Molotow on the wheel lips moldings, door handles, and hood pins. The wheel spokes took the most time, about an hour. Done! It stands up VERY well next to the Revell snapper '70 I finished last year. The Welly is just a hair shorter, and a hair narrower. Could you use the Welly grille/bumper and rear bumper to convert the Revell to a '71 hardtop? It might work if you took a very thin slice out of the width of the Revell body. As always, comments welcome!
Gramps46
Impressive transformation Snake. The wheels alone are a big improvement but the other touches are a real plus.
randyc
Does look good! I'll have to fix up the one I have. Welly really hits some good stuff in places. Adding some sort of fuzz or powder for the carpets helps a lot too especially on the convertibles. Coincidentally, I noticed other day when using the molotow, that if you blow on the paint as comes out, it "chromes up" nice and quick. As it comes out, it shows metallic in it, if you are looking really up close. Which I usually am when I am using the pen. The hard tip in the 1 mm is tough to control for me. Works good from a brush though. When I have time to set up to do that.
