1978 Mack U-Model "Overnight"

Recommended Posts

At the truck show at the N.C. Transportation Museum in Spencer N.C. I saw an old U-Model Mack that had formerly been operated by Overnight Transport. The new owner has plans to restore it. This build is meant to represent what this truck might look like restored. It began with the MPC DM 600 kit. Many parts were used from the AMT Mack R-Model kit as well. The Engine and Transmission are from the R-Model kit, the font wheels and air drier are from Clint Freeman, the rear wheels, tires, differential, and rear springs are from A.I.T.M., mudflaps are from Plastic Dreams, and the decals are from Modeltruckin.com.

I just said it once, so I will say it again...

Super clean build Brian!

I also want to thank everyone for being so educational on this site. Both with the models and the 1:1. I used to see one of these run around town all the time with a little dump box on it and wondered what model Mack it was. Now I know.

Oh, and if ever a Mac could be considered "cute", that little dump truck was just the cutest little thing.  :D

Very nice copy of the real one , only the front tires need also a little wash, just like the rear tires. ;)

The small details in the cab are also awesome.

Great build!

Hermann.

Thanks Hermann, You are right, that is something that I missed.

Fantastic job!!!!   If they get the real one to look half as good as the model, they will have done a show-worthy job!!!

Excellent work.  Did you do the mirror brackets from scratch?

Thanks Warren!!! The mirror brackets are made with music wire. I made them from scratch, that's why they're a little off.:D
