Another '69 Foose Camaro

Recommended Posts

As I said in under glass I haven't been around much the last few years due to family health issues, building a new house and life in general. One of the projects that took me 3 1/2 years to complete was a custom version of the 1/12 scale Foose Camaro. A friend gave the kit shortly after they hit the stores. From the beginning I had to do something special with it. I modded the body, engine, exhaust, interior and suspension. The trim, badges, front and rear bumpers were removed. I added a 3-D printed RS grille and custom taillights. The interior has a custom gauge cluster, 3-D printed Recaro seats and steering wheel, custom center console, flocked carpet and custom made seat belts, buckles and retractors. The engine had a scratch built plenum, throttle body, fuel rails and injectors with custom valve covers, coil, electric fan and engine pulleys. The kit battery was removed from the firewall and the firewall smoothed. I added after market resin wheels and tire with valve stems. I used custom brass made coil springs to replace the kit plastic rods for the front suspension. Custom sub-frame connectors and a side exhaust was added. It was first large scale build and had a lot of fun with it.

You have made a really nice job of building that Camaro, Doug and I do like your choice of paint colour also. Actually, I like the Foose Cadillac Eldorado, which I don't think is available in 1:12 scale, only 1:25 scale. My builds are '50's British and European cars in 1:24 scale, but I keep looking at the American cars that I find very interesting, again the 1950's period in particular.

What a beautiful model!  Such a clean looking build.  Nice color choice too!

Thanks everyone for the comments. I thought large scale would be easier to build and mod but I was wrong. You can do sooooo much and its hard to know when to stop. There aren't a lot of after market parts for the 1/12 so I had scratch build them as I went.

You have a point there. Easier to handle and build box-stock, maybe... But with some ambition, lots and lots of space to be filled with details... ;)

You did great by the way, really like your custom Camaro!
