Monogram 1956 Thunderbird

Another of my early eighties builds. As with the 57 Chevy above, paint is Sikkens automotive base/clear coat system with my then new airbrush.

I don't know why I painted the engine yellow (it should be red) - the rest of the model looks reasonably accurate so I had apparently seen a photo or two.

Thanks for your comments everyone, very much appreciated.

The Monogram 1.24th kits of this period had their faults but they were virtually free of fit problems. This applied to the 53 Chevy and 41 Lincoln too, both of which I also built at the time.

That's an 80s build? Sure has held up well. If you were building THAT good 35 years ago, how great are your skills now?

Paint looks like it's on steel, not plastic. Great job!

Thanks very much for further comments everyone.

Patrick, my job in the eighties gave me access to a professional spray booth plus good automotive paints and excellent tuition in their use with an airbrush.

I also had good eyesight and a steady hand. None of this applies any more and I struggle to get a good result these days - but I still try. ^_^
