randyc
I don't post many completed builds and have two for today. This is Revell's 68 SS 396. Nothing special about the build. The build up photos are over on the workbench page if you want to see those. I didn't do any interior or chassis photos of completion yet. I am looking forward to the 69 that I hope comes along next. These two latest builds I tried to smooth out the bumps and dimples on the bodies and scribed the panel and trim lines before paint. And I tried to do all the prep work for a good finish on the body. Guess what? all those guys that say prep is the key are right. I've had good finishes before but this really worked pretty well. Paint on this one isn't perfect, but the issues are my fault. the paint is Valspar gloss white with primer. I had it laying around. I'm not perfectly happy with it though. Not sure I would seek it out to use on models again. I also primed with Rustoleum gray auto primer. All decanted and airbrushed. I was very surprised that the decals conformed to the wheel centers and emblems as well as they did. A little micro set and micro sol helped. Chrome is combination of Molotow and BMF. I screwed up the taillight panel and ended up foiling it and then Molotow on the top of bumper. Gave them some variation, like a real car would have. Headlights turned out well too I think. A little black detailer liquid around headlights after gluing gave them a little more dimension.

Southern Fried
The tire/wheel matchup/ stance, and color choice make this one a Winner. I had been holding of on this kit. Now I know it can be nice.

Yes I do love it when one comes together like I want. I've learned over hte years that going slow makes a difference. As well as having the internet to look at photos of how various parts really look. I keep my phone by me and google whatever I happen to be detailing. Like the interior parts. Really makes a difference being able to look at it and not have to do it from memory or guess.
