"SHINER" - Ford 1940 in Peking to Paris 2013

Recommended Posts

Hello all mates! I am a new member, but not so new, or young... Some 40 years in modelling and working seven days a week to build model cars.

This is a WIP developed to follow the theme in Peking to Paris Rally cars. The first one I started, and it brings all the history and envolvement with that fascinating competition, is this Ford 1940. First to catch my attention because the great chinese dragon on its right side.

Some changes and modifications to the shape, adjusting to a better accuracy and looking. Tyres and wheels also a great searching, but I found a common sence to all the racers I intend to build (lots of Chevrolets, Dodges, Plymouths and others).

The works stoped some time ago due to some matter about to draw the dragon and the cock for the left side. All the decals are ready to print and soon I will be back to this work.

Very nice looking build. It took me a minute to figure out what you were doing with the trunk lid. I see you're going for the '39 grill.

Fantastic work Paulo, I will be watching your build progress.

I did a similar conversion on a 39 Chevy a while ago, installed a 6 cylinder motor and Jeep wheel / tyres.

I like what you did to the trunk on that I did something very similar to the trunk on my 41 Plymouth Peking car. I added "Ribs" and then covered it with cloth. I used clear Elmers to glue it and painted it flat black for the Canvas effect.

I was a little unsure what I was seeing in the beginning, but when the 1:1 photos appeared a light went off! Beautiful work, especially on that trunk cover!

Many thanks, mates! It is good to see your comments. I am working to get back to the Ford soon. By the way, the 7th P2P is runing, almost leaving Russia. A good subject for us!!!
