As far as I know, there is nothing else in the Johan kit that would make me think that it is not a letter car.

My convertible had the original '62 interior and I used the custom wheels from the AMT '58 Impala kit, which strangely enough are fair representations of '62 300 wheel covers.

Very nice work as usual Steve. My love for this car went up a notch after visiting Chrysler’s at Carlisle a few weeks ago. 

When I was doing a little research, they actually referred to calling this  a “non letter car”. 

I really love those Mopars, but they are probably, in my humble opinion, the most confusing when pertaining to building a correct, or almost correct car.

I could be wrong. 

But i think the only difference between a letter car versus a non letter car is the powertrain 

Letter car got the 413

Non letter car got a  383  

 

I dont know these cars that well. So i may be wrong.

 

Ps. Ill need to ck.

But i used to have an extra 62 hardtop kit.

I know I have at least one ea of an  original conv and hardtop.

"I think " i have a spare hardtop..

Memory isnt that good anymore so guess i need to ck .

You are more knowledgeable than I am. I noticed that you really have to dig deep for info in these cars, being close to 60 years old.

I might not be able to offer you a complete kit, but I have a considerable number of parts for the Johan '62 Chrysler including good bodies and USA Oldies interiors as well as most of the other necessary parts.

Lets just say that the only part that I might not be able to let go is my last good grille.

I have a good front bumper and grille surround, but the cross bar and emblem are missing.

Just food for thought.

The kit does have the "300 H" insignia on the trunk lid.

The "Letter Car Series" started  in 1956 and ended in 1965.

This include the 300 H in 1962.

 

Technically the '55 could be called a letter car, but I consider it not to be as it was referred to as the C-300.

The 300 C appeared in 1957.

In my opinion, the "letter series" started in 1956 with the 300 B, and ended in 1965 with the 300 L.

Chrysler skipped the "I" for some odd reason.

Yea, the C-300 is considered a true "letter car" by the "300 Letter Car Club." Chrysler openly admitted that they skipped "I" because it could be too easily mistaken for the number "one." Never underestimate the stupidity of the general buying public. Even back then. So "I" was out.
