David G.
I dug this one out and started on it while I was waiting for the enamel paint to cure on the 51 Chevy. This should be an interesting build. I can see that there will be issues that I'll need to address regarding the seams and joints. Although it wasn't required, I put 1/4oz of weight in each of the feet to keep him from getting too tipsy. Alien leadfoot Basic assembly and painting. There was flash to remove, gaps to fill and a little re-sculpting but here they are in shiny basic black. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G. David G.
Basic assembly and painting. There was flash to remove, gaps to fill and a little re-sculpting but here they are in shiny basic black. I have the body halves glued together and I'm working on smoothing out the seams. I also found a suitable dark green for the main body color, Tamiya Black-Green XF-27. I painted the arms with the green. It's very subtle but it's there. I also got some more detail painting done on the head. I hope to put a light gray tint on the "helmet" to add some depth and mystery. Yeaaaahhh, the teeth are a work in progress. I'll get them looking much better by the time this I'm done with this. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G. David G.
I spent some time detail painting various bits and getting the head pretty much completed. I finished up the skull detail and further defined the teeth with some chrome and black paint. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G. TarheelRick
Does this kit come with a Sigourney figure? Doing good work with this, ummm, different kit.

David G.
Using Pledge Floor Care Acrylic and black paint, I also mixed a translucent gray tint for the head carapace. I think it looks much better tinted than clear. More like it should. I also finally got the seams on the body taken care of and sprayed it with the basic gloss black. The next step is detail painting the body and organ pipes, or pipe "organs" and installing them. Thank you for taking the time to look, I always appreciate comments, hints and suggestions. In the ten years that I've been a member of this community, the feedback I've received from all of you has been a tremendous help in developing my model building skills. David G. David G.
Here is the final update. Throughout the entire build cycle, this model has been rather difficult to photograph. Placing it against a somewhat darker than usual background seemed to help a little. Although it doesn't show very well, the color is actually a dark black-green (Tamiya XF-27) over gloss black with Tamiya XF-63 German Grey highlights. The claws are Molotow chrome applied with a brush. I used some RTV silicon to add "dripping saliva" to the jaws. It took a little bit of effort to bring this kit past the point of just looking like a plastic model kit of The Alien but I'm rather pleased with the way it came out. The classic Alien Profile. And of course, my obligatory Display Case shot. Thanks for taking the time to look and as always, please feel free to comment. David G. Rider
I'm digging this David, nice work on the upgrades. Any plans for a dio?

No, no plans for a dio, at least not in the immediate future. I do have enough plexy lying about to fashion a custom display case for it. If I go that route I will make a proper base. I guess that that would serve as a diorama of sorts. David G.

Totally, even something simple with a back drop can add a ton to the visual. It's a great piece not to have some sort of base.
