Ok, Buddy of mine stopped yesterday and had a visit! Gotta read guys and gals!!

Recommended Posts

He brought up a van full of trucks and parts yesterday and we had a go at looking through the lot. He had 12 boxes, all at 9 inches tall, 3 foot by 3 foot square. Trailer stuff, truck stuff, parts kits etc..

Before I get to much farther, to answer the question in your head, yes I was able to get some stuff. Traded truck stuff for a bunch of car stuff I didn’t want anymore. Ford Snowplow/dump truck, two low boy trailers, two tanker kits, Ford with the larger box and lift gate (Louisville) truck, along with a Moebius 53 van kit sealed. Also two old broken up car hauler frame and lower sections to make a low boy type trailer from the two. Ideas be flowing now!!! Lmbo....

Special thanks to my friend Diesel Dwayne for the help and pics yesterday!!

ok! That wasn’t the main reason I started this thread! Lol.... Oh boy, this is a good one! As we were going through one of his boxes I about hit the floor, he had three kits built, bought at a swap meet years ago, one was a 352 Pete cabover and the others (one is just a bunk house off of a 359 Pete) what you see here! Now I don’t know how well you can see the layers but in person oh my goodness! My question is,, how much paint is too much paint????

exhaust manifold is painted to the frame! Rear suspension is almost perfectly smooth from build up of paint!

So I have this sticker on my workbench and I can’t say exactly what it says! But do you think “That Stuff Will Buff Out” LoL ???

We talked and my Buddy said there has to be at least 60 layers on the Pete!! Yikes!!

Your post brings up a question for me.......

The 'Road Knights' logo on that left front windshield is from a model club that was founded by myself and a few others in Charlotte NC.  I helped design that logo....but how did it end up on a truck model so far away??? Lots of weird going on with that model.

Maybe the builder ran out of glue and couldn't get to the hobby shop.  Or maybe he was trying to make sure it didn't rust.  Wish I had bought some stock in whatever paint company he bought from, I could retire now.  Oh wait, I am retired; maybe I could buy a new model kit.

Now that is a good question Dave!! I know plastic can travel and would be neat to know the history of it!!

I want to see what is under all that paint. ?

Do you have enough purple power to dunk it all in? Maybe while it is soaking you can post up pics of the rest of your haul.?

It’s not my truck but would be kool to see what is under all that paint! May have to ask my buddy if I can do a strip test on it!! Lol

anyhow, here’s what I got from him!!

Snow plow and built tanker.

Two flat beds from old car haulers. May make a tandem drop deck using them with the parts from the other trailer parts I got from him.

Kerry-  It'll go down something like this!   I stripped this one just out of curiosity.  I got it in a bag-0-junk some 20 years ago.

Funny aside, people stole the second photo and used it in their own tutorials.  One said this was the result of brake fluid and when I emailed them, they swore it was their own photo... um, that's the nose of my van in the background!   I stripped it with the old and now unavailable Chameleon Paint Stripper.  Best stuff I ever knew!
