Richard Bartrop
https://www.thedrive.com/tech/30431/electric-v-8-crate-motor-from-electric-gt-is-sema-swap-ready The concept itself is great. Kudos for trying to make it easier for people who want to play around with electrification, and working with what you have is what hot rodding is all about. However, the package is just stupid. It's like those attempts to stick a horse head on early gas buggies so as not to alarm real horses. You're not going to fool anyone. Just own the fact that it's an electric motor. iamsuperdan
Personally, if I was going to electrify a car, I would want to open the hood and see something out of Star Trek or Star Wars. But if someone wants electrics and a more traditional look, then more power to them.
Mark
If it's shaped so as to fit in the same space as a gas engine and transmission, to avoid hacking on the car to fit it in, maybe it's not so dumb. Shape the battery pack (or a portion of it) to take the place of the gas tank, whatever is needed to make the swap with as little cutting as possible. Fake exhaust pipes...now that would be dumb... The Junkman
And then you have this, which at the end of the process gives you a trunk where a trunk ought to be. https://jalopnik.com/volkswagen-will-now-convert-classic-beetles-to-electric-1837900039

Domestic, Asian, and European. Going on an electric would be no different.
