Merkur XR4Ti
Paint is MCW Gaugin Red. This is one of the finest-engineered kit's I've ever built, and that's high praise considering I've built tons of Tamiya kits.

espo
Beautiful paint work and very clean looking moldings. You are correct about the basic kit. it is one of the best in my mind also. Â

Claude Thibodeau
Hi Sir! Nice car, and I agree: this IS a well-engineered kit! On a side note, with your nickname (Merkur XR4Ti), I can relate: I had 3 XR4, and one Scorpio. Great road cars! Nostalgia... Merkur XR4Ti
Yup, Merkurs were really under-appreciated at the time. I'd love to get my hands on a Scorpio in particular today.

David G.
Great looking Chrysler! Is that the AMT kit?  17 hours ago, Tom Geiger said: Great car, poorly marketed in the USA.  I think the name "Merkur" was part of the problem. Maybe Mercury should have dusted off the "Bobcat" model name and used it. The probably would have sold more Mercury Bobcats than Merkur Scorpios. David G. FOMOCO decided to appeal to BMW's crowd... but the price point was too high for a car/brand that was not an "instant statement" of your taste/status, etc. Too bad, because it was a breeze to drive. And to the Scorpio... man, this thing flew! It looked like a hatchback Mercury Sable, therefore, impossible to sell at the premium they were asking. They even resorted to a "guaranteed trade value" to move the metal. You know how it ended... RIP. CT

RIP. Ron Hamilton has an interesting story about the final Scorpios and how they sat on the docks for a couple of years and were finally destroyed by Ford.
