Fat Brian
I want to replicate a neighbor's car from my childhood, probably THE car that got me into cars in the first place. Also, what color should it be? I'd swear it was orange but I was pretty young at the time.
Vietnam Vet67
The standard engine for the Road Runner was the 383. Here is a picture from the 1969 brochure

1972coronet
Revell's 1968-1969 Dart or 1968-1969 Charger . The engine in the Darts replicates a 383 ( or 440 , depending -- no matter for this instance ) with a 727 TorqueFlite . The air cleaner and rocker arm covers ( colloq. "valve covers" ) are correct for 1968-1969 Chrysler big block engines --- only the left ( driver's side ) exhaust manifold being Dart ( and Barracuda ) specific . The exhaust manifold from the 1968-1969 Chargers' 440 will have the correct driver's side exhaust manifold . Engine should be Chrysler Engine Orange , unless the car had air conditioning --- those engines were Chrysler Turquoise .

1972coronet
1969 orange could be either the aforementioned Vitamin-C ( code EK2 --- it was called Go-Mango on Dodge ) or , perhaps , the very rare Omaha Orange (special order colour) . 1972coronet
The 1969 "383 Road Runner Engine" was orange --- turquoise if air conditioning was ordered ( i.e. , 330hp due to milder cam specs ) .
Fat Brian
Great info everyone and it matches my recollection of the car. It didn't, and still doesn't, have a/c so the orange engine is correct. By the time I was around the car in the late 80's it had been through 16 owners so it wasn't 100% stock anymore. One of them added the big oval air cleaner from the 440 model but I dont know if the under hood duct work was there.
