How to remove raised tire lettering?

Recommended Posts

I removed lettering from these vinyl tires (leaving in place only Good Year) using a flat file and then finishing the side wall with fine sand paper.  Rubber tires would be more difficult but I would try the same technique.

Gidday,

As the title says, what is a good way to remove raised tire lettering without causing damage to the tire?

thanks

Mike

Use a NEW generic single blade disposable razor...

Put some masking tape over the outer portions of the blade leaving the center exposed, so you do not have any mishaps while handling...

While being very careful make a few gentle swipes and it should take the lettering away without causing harm to the rest of the sidewall.

I find it best to stop just shy sometimes and finish with varying grits of sandpaper using very light pressure.

Hope this helps.
