It would be sad if people thought they had to run a focus group every time they start a project. That said, there are two things that bug me. The first is setups that obviously won't work in real life. Show cars get a pass because they were seldom designed to be functional in the first place, but something like a blown hemi driving stock Model T wheels? Yeah, that won't be pretty. The other is when someone says they're making something from a certain era, and it's a mishmash of styles from five decades that I know is like nothing that was actually built then. You want to mashup different styles, that's great, but if you're trying to replicate a particular style, know what it is you're replicating. stitchdup Posted December 5, 2019 Share Posted December 5, 2019 Personally my biggest peeve is finishing a build. It seems that no matter how many times I test fit a part once it comes to finally gluing it together it no longer fits. Take my recent golf, I really wanted to do a good job on it, and I judaciously test fit every part before and after paint but once it was glued together parts just didn't want to fit so I ended up with wonky back lights and a lower bumper that somehow grew in length so it wouldn't fit. As for this thread, I'm using it for build tips, not because I want people to comment on my stuff, but because I want to improve my models. One I'd like to add is something I have done myself until I built the little 68 beetle (that I posted in the under glass section) it has a separate head liner panel... I had never thought of actually painting in or flocking a head liner... But once I realized it, I will now never have a "bare" headliner... unless the build calls for it... race car or such.
