Chassis painted Tamiya TS-29 semi gloss black.
4Y9mHBe.jpg

Broke one of the top link mounts whilst washing. Did not notice until after it was painted, eyes arent as good as they use to be.
ls19cXx.jpg

Repaired.
Xg0qkGy.jpg

Repainted the diff, so had to wait for that to dry which held up the chassis work. So moved onto something else.

Done some work on the engine to help keep motivation for the build going.

Engine needed a better intake system, stock wont cut it.
yoBbu81.jpg

Used the poor mans milling machine to shave down the manifold. Had a bit of a mishap, the bit grabbed came loose and gouged a hole.
uA9aaln.jpg

But progressed along drilling some holes for the intake tubes. Smaller pilot hole first then to the required size.
BnnbZy3.jpg

New intake tubes will be 3.2mm styrene tube.
QD9Y8jD.jpg

After the holes were drilled, manifold was shaped further down and blended towards the heads.
DGiBIcR.jpg

Needed to cover the gouge, so a masking tape template was made and transferred to some .5mm styrene
W70P3pY.jpg

bKly83Q.jpg

HX8TWmO.jpg

Not shown, but this piece was then attached the lower valley of the manifold
u9zDGxD.jpg

Temporarily set the tubes in place.
wiFUWhh.jpg

And created a layout on the edge of the work board, to help make some injectors.
oF81kQQ.jpg

Mo2LBaJ.jpg

Injectors are made with 1.2mm styrene rod.
7O6c2XF.jpg

Set them in place and glued, after that cut to length.
7pn1aXA.jpg

Quick mock showing injectors in place.
wz8wxCL.jpg

rM3Wzci.jpg

Also attached another piece of styrene over the .5mm.
D0Suglt.jpg

Fuel rails made from 1.6mm aluminium tube.
ylvwN2s.jpg

Mock of rails temporarily in place.
GzAY9jP.jpg

Will use these stacks to top of the tubes, but they will be cut down in size at a later stage. They are another The Parts Box item.
fLTpuLy.jpg

Also added a few other details to the new intake set up. And pieced a few other parts together for a rough mock up.
cnOzOrx.jpg

YitPb6W.jpg

Wont be using the headers, just an idea of how they will look. Custom set will be made.

Assembled all the painted suspension components to the chassis.

Overlooked/forgot to paint the under side of rear suspension support plate. Will have to do some tricky brush work.

Started to get engine and some of the components painted.

Base paint for the engine is TS-44 brilliant blue.

Looks killer! I have a 1962 Pontiac Catalina body I've been wanting to give this treatment, I may have to do that now.

Thanks Joseph.

Yeah give it a go, il keep an eye for your build.

Started to work on the interior.

Measured the distance from the top of the chassis frame to the top of the door
otOohSb.jpg

AWbAGLx.jpg

That helped to work out a rough height to trim the box stock interior tub. Turns out that the step in the side of the tub was very close to the measurement and a good place to start.
EISHW9o.jpg

OOjusS0.jpg

Transferred the line around.
xj5455G.jpg

And using a razor saw cut that section of.
4ZIiSx4.jpg

WNtdCiD.jpg

wYrktRg.jpg

h53ttAV.jpg

Also need to remove the rear seat etc.
FQzeano.jpg

Made a temporary brace to support whilst cutting.
8ZDriEo.jpg

CNxh08z.jpg

Cut out using metal saw blade in the Dremel Micro.
m0OEMSP.jpg

Cleaned up all the cut edges with a coarse sanding stick.
8eAwKuR.jpg

And did a test in the body and over the chassis.
W73yhxg.jpg

Surprised it fit reasonably well.
nPpBOSE.jpg

oMMygf4.jpg

But will need to remove about 3-4 mm more from the tub, so lower edge of the rocker panel will be level with the bottom of the chassis frame.
sLDikBd.jpg

Not all things go as planned, hard to think everything all at one time. As something can be easily overlooked and situations arise.

Didnt think of the height of the engine in early mock up stages.

Going to need to lower the engine by trimming the mounts a couple mm. Hopefully that will bring the rocker covers under the bonnet. LOL! If that dont work il modify the bonnet/hod.

Looks killer with the body on! I guess the rear shocks will be displayed as they are now and thats gona look crazy good!

Appreciate it Anton, constantly mocking up helps with motivation and to think of a plan how to achieve the next task.

Yes, the inspiration car provided the idea for the rear suspension set up.

Wow, the chassis looks awesome with the shocks on show

Not as scale accurate or as good as the inspiration car, but yeah it turned out to be a cool visual feature.

Needed to sort out the engine situation, as it will have to be in the right place to make a fire wall and other parts of the interior.

Made some adjustments to the engine mounts.
This is where it started
vBR9rFE.jpg

8LJTQsN.jpg

Worked out the area that needed a notch cut into it.
colaE38.jpg

Used this carbide burr to grind the notch.
zzSmhPJ.jpg

U1C5MiB.jpg

Also needed to remove some material from the gear box mount.
8akEoTk.jpg

And to make sure the engine would be lowered enough, removed some material from the mount on the engine.
SOl4DfX.jpg

Cut away with the chisel blade.
DJoQpmo.jpg

GGHDNml.jpg

Test fitted the engine, and the oil pan/sump was sitting on the cross member. Which left a gap between the two mounts. LOL!
tKnvRcA.jpg

rvScziC.jpg

Using a sanding drum in the Dremel removed some material from the sump. Refined the surface finish in preparation for a re paint.
YhfQ1tb.jpg

aTAKhsQ.jpg

Masked.
cdGhKYK.jpg

Primed.
cRejxOG.jpg

Re painted
Bl4GCUP.jpg

Lo5Rtnd.jpg

Attached some 0.020 3mm x 2mm squares to make up some of the gap and lift the engine to clearance the cross member and touched up the paint with some decanted TS-29 applied with a brush.
Nk21tWm.jpg

Moment of truth and the engine fits under the bonnet now.

Inquiring minds want to know what is this tool? Some kind of laser or robotic welder perhaps?

LOL! Have a look in the All The Rest section of the forum.

Will you be using wider tires that fit the rims better?

Yes, hoping to find something more suitable. But has been challenging as low profile is the preferred look.

Cheers

Need to find something more human like.

More progress with the interior.

Set the drawing compass to 4mm and marked the bottom of the tub to be cut further.
rS9R7gm.jpg

Also cut out the trans tunnel. And the small side panel that was behind the rear seat.
5kBIvyw.jpg

BQBlJrE.jpg

Kit trans tunnel saved and will be used as a top for the new yet to be made tunnel.
THFliGR.jpg

BbcN7an.jpg

Need a new floor pan for the interior to be built up on.
LqtRHLh.jpg

IQ76wmQ.jpg

Using some yellow tape covered the chassis frame where the floor will be.
RMEk0Tz.jpg

Traced the perimeter of the frame and then transferred to 2mm styrene sheet.
VvA90hc.jpg

cKjYDrY.jpg

Y3tvNQV.jpg

A piece to add some detail to the top back of the chassis frame.
jDQAWPa.jpg

TdzbSGM.jpg

Cut of the side windows of the box stock glass.
lbE0Hur.jpg

dU8aUq7.jpg

Used the metal saw blade.
RRiirYV.jpg

And cleaned up the edges with a sanding stick.
A5rzmDI.jpg

Taped the glass and whats left of the interior tub inside the body.
qtwI1Aq.jpg

TZAyUzg.jpg

Positioned over the floor and using a mechanical pencil with lead extended so that it could be used to trace the inside edge of the front corner.GPtloVy.jpg

IFfaeLK.jpg

Lift the body.
u3TvjC5.jpg

Reposition the interior tub and trace the remaining distance on the sides.
UO5FQ75.jpg

Spot glued to the floor on the outside side edge in a few places.
8IrpkBp.jpg

MsqydOP.jpg

Time to start planning some ideas and trying them out in cardboard.
