I scrubbed up the parts with some airbrush cleaner as she is filthy. I have quite a few parts to replace including Windshield, steering wheel, wheels and tires, exhaust system, mirrors, headlights and bezels, taillights, rear bumper..... After reading numerous threads on this site, I ordered the Hallibrand mags. Any suggestions on resources would be greatly appreciated. vamach1 Posted January 13, 2020 Share Posted January 13, 2020 My advice is to only use the body and pitch the rest and buy a brand net kit for $10-$20. This kit has been reissued maybe a dozen times and some version have unique parts but overall any of the versions would suffice except I'd avoid the Reggie Jackson one because it is molded in green. Since you will have a spare body you can cut out the doors if you want to make them open. I would also sand off the Cobra emblems on the front and trunk. Ok good stuff I will probably wind up making a bunch of stuff in the running gear anyways....it is kinda the challenge of the build I stupidly like. I have been on the hunt for some proper Goodyear tires for this kit. I do have some from Fireball Model works, but they are BF Goodrich Fatties Keep us updated on your progress...will be watching... I have a soft spot for bringing other folk's cast off trash back too, and using as much of the original material as possible. You have my attention, sir. Bear in mind that one thing a lot of Cobra models seem to share is much heavier rubber than the cars would actually run, especially on the street. The big-footed-puppy look is favored by a lot of full-scale kit-car builders as well, and I generally think it kinda spoils the proportions and look of lightness the cars have. I don’t know why I like to torture myself and re-build stuff. It probably has a psychiatric diagnosis I have a few tire options for a more ‘light footed’ option. afx Posted January 13, 2020 Share Posted January 13, 2020 (edited) A much nicer example of the Ford 289 can be found in any version of the Revell '65-66 Mustang or Shelby GT350 kits - that what I use in my Cobra builds.
