DukeE
LOL. Oh well, there's hope for uncle Dudley's dead base Mercury Monarch 4 door, and his wife's B210 Honeybee. Just beyond words. Hope everyone complaining wanting new issues buys these. I'll stick with reissues.
iamsuperdan
Interesting choice. Not sure this is up my alley, but I like that some manufacturers are tackling modern subject matter.
stavanzer
Man, I came This Close to getting one of these. In the end, the Kia dealer gave a better deal on a Sorrento, so that is what I got. I may have to get one of these! This really neat. Nice to have a chance to get something is at least close to my daily driver.

stavanzer
I bought a 2017. Lease is up this year. I've really liked my Sorrento.
kilrathy10
I'm diggin' it... Can't wait to get one of these... I haven't found one in die cast, so this will be a nice substitution...
Erik Smith
The cool thing is, you could put any emblem on it - Kia, Toyota, Subaru, Honda, etc- and nobody would know the difference. It actually looks Like a very good model in the photo above. Edited January 14, 2020 by Erik Smith
niteowl7710
FWIW so nobody gets one and then throws a fit about the contents later, this is much like the Grandeur/Azera where it is a very simple - think AMT Showroom Replicas - unassembled promotional model. stitchdup
It seems odd to me that accadamy have done the hyundais they have, last year it was a small sedan and this year the 4x4, yet nobody has done the coupe. I can see why though, hyundai as a brand seem to be getting more popular with younger buyers now and they offer some of the best after sales support. Most of the people I know that have them would buy another and 2 of them used to run bmw 4x4s
Bennyg
I don’t want to sound a negative Nancy, but wouldn’t the Kia Stinger be more marketable? Australia even had them as highway patrol cars. Ben Edited January 14, 2020 by Bennyg Grammar
mikemodeler
Considering this is an American built vehicle, kind of an interesting choice for Academy. My extended family has had several Hyundai vehicles and they are/were nearly bulletproof. I might have to get one just because it is different but yet something I see around town more than I do 69 Camaros or 70 Superbirds!
randyc
My wife is about to buy a real one of these I think. So this may need to come to our house. I can paint it like the one she wants.

Deathgoblin
Hard pass. Wouldn't want a crossover IRL, don't want to build one either. I've considered the Azera, though.

From the videos this looks somewhat better executed than the Azera/Grandeur that was good but suffered from terribly weak panel lines and 4X4 stance if built OOB. I think I spend about 7 hours rescribing panel lines on my Grandeur and I ditched the kit wheels/tires for extras from a Revell kiddie Mustang kit. And still ended up with a rather boring model LOL. I'll get the Santa Fe when it comes out.
TarheelRick
I have two of the Grandeur/Azera kits and they are simple builds, but very well molded. Only issue I have is the panel lines are quite weak and the plastic is a bit harder than I am used to, so the panel scribe had a mind of its own. I tried to polish the black styrene body and it came out very nicely, however as mentioned the panel lines are very weak and some of them disappeared in the polishing process. I will be looking for the Santa Fe. My wife had a 2003 V-6 AWB and that car was virtually indestructible. She traded it for a 2016 Santa Fe Sport, I-4 no AWB but it is still very nicely appointed and fun to drive. randyc
I went ahead and ordered. I think I can make it look good enough to suit her, from what I saw on the video. Looks like it will assemble well enough. And I'll wait till she buys hers and detail it exactly like hers. Unless I can talk her into a Lincoln... lol

I honestly don't even see the point of your post because if it's something you're not interested in and it was clearly stated in the thread title what this thread was for, pass on by it! It seems to me your screen name fits you well, because you spread enough of it across this entire forum! I doubt you even took the time to watch the video or have even seen inside of a box of an imported kit to see that their quality far outweighs your precious reissues! I'm guessing if the kit is from 'Merica of a 'Merican car it ain't for you! Anyway, from what I seen on the video, I'm going to have to add this to my "must have" list to add to my grocery getter collection! This will fit right in with my Honda Odyssey minivan, Honda Civics, and my latest addition that a friend got me for Christmas, an 80s Ford Escort. Now just if I could find a kit of a Yugo! ? There's also a difference between wanting new kit subjects, and wanting the new subjects that are being released. I want to see new issues, and am glad to see something unique, but this Santa Fe is not one of the subjects that I would like to build. That's not to say that I dislike them for releasing it, but rather I just won't purchase it. DukeE can stick with his reissues, and I can equally gripe that most of the reissues don't interest me at all lately.
DukeE
It was irony. Sorry you're upset. I love new issues of needed cars, I like some re-issues. At this point, I've got all the annuals/foreign kits/resin/showcars/etc. I need. Modeling cars you've had is fun, but with a brand new ground up tool, which are fairly decent, what demographic is this thing aimed at? What kid wants a soccer mom car? Civics are awesome. So lumping them in with Odysseys/Harriers(RX350)/this thing is apples and seeds. It'd be more popular if it were an i30N, which is a GTi challenger, and kids and adults love them. But, not my nickel. Rob Hall
From the photos, it looks like kitted one with a plain roof..too bad they didn't do the panoramic sunroof, in scale the it would show off the interior.. Given how popular CUVs and SUVs are in the modern world, more kits of this type of subject would be nice to see...like the new Chevy Blazer...or the upcoming Ford Bronco. Or any of several different Jeep models.... Edited January 14, 2020 by Rob Hall
