Hermann Kersten
Thank you for the nice comments guys! On 4/2/2020 at 5:13 AM, DRIPTROIT 71 said: Amazing work!! I use Purple Wave for reference too. Great source!! Yes Brian, I get most of the detailed information from that site, really a huge amount of information for anything you want to make. I was also very surprised that there are so many old and very old trucks on it, and pictured with great details. Today the completion of the Cummins for this raised roof Freightliner. According to the information, this engine should be the predecessor of the N14, and with this I engine I have another difference between the FLB and the FLA, not only with the cabin and the suspension, but now also with the engine. Ok, after a lot of modifying, making new parts, fitting and gluing, it was time for the paint and the last details, like the CTM hose clamps......again.....and some BMF for the rest of the rubber elbows. With a wire solder, I made a pipe for refill oil and one for the dipstick. For the last details I ordered also a engine detail decal-set at model trucking.com. And the differences and similarities between the Cummins 855 and the N14. Ok guys, that's it for today and see you next round. Hermann. Hermann Kersten
Thank you for the nice compliment JT. Today some color for this Freightliner. After a lot of thinking, doubting and looking at and comparing reference photos, I finally made up my mind what kind of paint scheme I'd like to use. This is the photo that convinced me ... The only difference between the picture and my Freightliner is, that i use dark grey or black chassis covers. In any case, I have already sprayed the base color on the cabin with Motip car paint. A small tip that I have accidentally encountered, if you spray clear coat on the primer, and then the normal colors over the clear coat, you do not have to worry that you pull off the paint when masking. Somehow, the clear coat not only hardens, but also completely seals the primer. Just a small but imo not an unimportant tip.? And some colors to choose for the lower color tone, I think the gold will do it, what you think guys? The white striping will be done with the pin-striping from Jerry, but we have to wait patiently for the order, because the mail has also been delayed due to the current global circumstances. Anyway, I still have plenty to do. That's it for today, and see you next round! Hermann.

Hermann Kersten
Thank you for the comments guys! Yeah, after I painted the cab in the 2nd color, I sprayed the clear coat on the cab. Let it rest for at least 2 till 3 weeks so that the clear coat could harden. In the main time I received the decals from Jerry, I started with the first white striping what is on the edge of the white and dark gold color. After the white striping I put the red striping on the cab, because in my opinion this is a nice nuance between the 2 colors, and gives a nice contrast. Later the 3 or 4 white stripes will be done on the lower dark gold part, with different distances between the stripes. First I made 2 side fenders, which are at the front corners of the cabin. Later I will see if these fenders get the cabin colors, or if I make them completely chrome, I'm not sure yet. Then the result so far..... The CTM Freightliner emblems.... The shine of the clear coat.... And the rest. Yep, that's it for today guys, see you next round! Hermann.
