Thanks, Russ It has been released as a stock-only kit, but also as a 2-in-1 stock/rod kit with a 340/360-ish sort of modern V8. The stock Mopar straight 6 is nice, and is the only place to find that engine, AFAIK.
Mr mopar
How is the 340 ? dose it look the part ?
stavanzer
The 340 is adequate, but no more than that.

I wouldn't recommend that anyone use it, since the AMT '71 Duster's 340 small black is light years ahead, despite its foibles. IIRC, it's the same design/parts as found in the semi-recently reissued AMT Cushman Duster/Petty Dart Kit Car kits. The AMT '41 Plymouth's stock flathead inline six is pretty average, too, but if you're building a Powell, you'll want to seek this kit out. ? https://www.makesthatdidntmakeit.com/powell

Casey
Here are some pics I took of the mid-'80s AMT/Ertl reissue, for reference. Not a terrible kit, really, but not quite on par with '90s and '00s era kits like Revell's '40 and '48 Fords. unclescott58
Interesting that Casey brought this model up. At our February Model Car Club of Minnesota meeting, we decided to do a club build/contest. Guess what model was decided on? AMT's '41 Plymouth. What an odd coincidence. Part of the reason for picking this car is that you see so few built. And the one kit dealer at our meeting has several left over from the last reissue, and is willing to sell them to us cheap. Any issue can be used for the build. I'll be using one I think I picked up back in the 1990's. For the build, one can do what ever they what with kit. With the talent in our group, it will be interesting see what they come up with.

Mike999
Motor City Resin Casters has 4-door sedan and Sedan Delivery bodies for this '41 Plymouth. TarheelRick
Also builds into a nice short track racer.
ChrisBcritter
It's a nice enough kit; too bad AMT never got to do any other versions - a woodie'd be sharp, and I started a convertible conversion using the cowl top/windshield from the IMC '48 Ford vert. Had the mods worked out but the project got lost in the shuffle. Getting the grille surround installed and blended in smoothly is a chore (I'm guessing there was a molding issue that required a separate part). The stock wheels are way too deeply dished - I'd try sanding on the backside until the hubcaps come loose, then put them on Revell '40/'48 Ford rims. It does make a kool mild kustom taildragger. the other Mike S.
The one thing I really appreciate these days is R2 molding their kits in white styrene. Those off white, tan, brown and greasy gray colors they were doing back then were just plain nasty.

Tom Geiger
I like the flathead six. Here is one I built and used in my 34 Ford sedan build. I was fortunate to find good reference pix of a recently rebuilt engine that hadn’t been put in a car yet. Note that there is a metal trough running up the side of the engine to hold the wires. That’s not in the kit. I used it in the 34 Ford just because it was an unusual engine and I don’t believe it had been done before. I have bought a few more 41 Plymouth kits found cheap just for the engine.

I ordered the Plymouth 4-door body a few days ago, and got an email from him the next day. Here it is: "thank you for your order. due to very high order volumes, please allow 10-12 weeks to cast, cure and ship. also, due to a possible statewide or national shut down, it may take longer. i will ship your order as soon as i can. jeff"

stavanzer
$32.00 seems a bit much for a '41 Plymouth with 4 bottle crates and some Coke decals. I'll pass.
