Thats gonna be a monster!

Love the plan drawing , I was helped by Gary Wallace years ago w a scaled down drawing of the fdm mixer I was building . Sure made it easier making parts fit and  look right

Ps..the phrase was also coined by Walt Disney when designing Walt Disney world bit of useless history

Yes sir, plans sure do help, especially with things like this, especially when they can be directly measured from for the parts. I have heard another phrase used for building stuff that looks real, kind of like imagineering................gizmology. Works for me!

Fantastic scratchbuilding Tom !  The grill blows my mind

See ya plunked a Detroit in there too hooray !

Yup, the original has an 8v71 NA in the carrier and a 6/71 in the upper.  Just got the cab and front fenders and bumper all made and attached.  Lots of finish work to do but hours and hours of fab work yet.

Looking more like a truck all the time.  Noticed your use of plastic angle stock for the base of the cab sides, etc.  I found that to work well also.  Light duty but adds some stiffness and strength.  And there will be so much detail to really show off when this is done.  Great project!

 Tom ,

I am truly impressed with you progress. I hadn't realized how long it's been since I visited the Forum .

I was kind of expecting driven front axles. > What you've done on the front steering is fantastic.

And your fabrication on the cab and grille look great.

That looks awesome sitting on its wheels ! Certainly shows off the shear size of the truck now

Keep up the stellar build

Thanks, yeah, it's gonna be HUGE!

Finally found a few minutes to get to the bench and work on this project that has been stalled for way too long. My shop is going crazy, teaching a couple nights each week, and life in general have conspired along with a case of builders block to bring this to a screeching halt.  But, MAYBE, this kick start will get it going again.  Anyways, just a little, but straightened the grille, and made the engine enclosure up for the carrier. Now working on the hinges. This was always going to be a huge involved time consuming build.   Hoping that at least now I can keep it going!

WOW. I am looking forward to seeing this done. I have been wanting to build something like that as a companion to the drag-line that I built many years ago. Great  job so far.

Thanks all for the great comments. Unfortunately, I am in the middle of unprecedented business at my gun shop, which leaves me with about negative 3 energy and time/drive/desire to do any building. Also just had a great friend pass and we bought his 500 gun collection, which has consumed our whole staff for the last two months. So...................have tried to get some work done, but am spinning my wheels. BUT.............I AM enjoying watching all of the great work being done by all of my friends on this forum. Hopefully, one day soon, will get back to the bench...............and STAY there1
