Jon Cole
I cut the dog leg door and hood hinges off a Testors Dodge Charger R/T Daytona diecast, way back when. Then it got tossed in the "maybe someday" pile. Now I want to finish it, and glue the body panels shut. I am not messing with the paint. Not stripping the paint. Anyone ever do this before? Glue diecast to diecast? What is the best glue? EDIT: The hinges are long gone. Looking to glue panels shut. cobraman
JB Weld i think should work.
swede70
A heavy bead of thick variant CA glue might also suffice. Mike K./Swede70
ibj40
I agree with the JB Weld theory, although be very careful in application, as it can expand when it cures. A thin coat, firmly clamped.

Geno
I have done this on some models and have used Super Glue Gel with great success.
Jon Cole
Thanks for the info. I will go to the hardware store tomorrow. Didn't feel like suiting up today.

I recommend SuperGlue Gel, if you go this route, much more control. Walmart has three packs of smaller tubes which keeps them from clogging up. Snake45
Another vote for GEL, if you're using superglue. And ask for Loctite brand by name. I've learned the hard way it's THE BEST.
Bills72sj
If the gaps are tight Superglue Gel will work fine. If you have big gaps I would get Gorilla glue clear in the squeeze tube.
Gramps46
I agree with Bill on the Gorilla glue. I have become a fan of their products.

I haven't heard anyone address what to do if the gaps AREN'T tight. Which, on most diecasts, they aren't.
FredRPG
Another option would be black silicone, if it’s done carefully the door gap looks like 1:1 door rubber.
NYLIBUD
I wish I can get some of that glue.I normally use Testors, but all the craft stores are locked up tight. And as far as hobby shops, there’s two that I know of on LI,NY,and guess what, they’re closed too.So I ordered some on line.Just waiting for it.Even Ace hardware is closed.
