Model Cars Magazine Forum

Hello from Portland, OR

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just found this forum and decided to sign up. My name is Mark, I'm 47, and I've been car-crazy my whole life. Started out with Matchbox and Tonka, then graduated to model kits when I was about 8. I kind of left them behind when I got into RC cars a few years later, but recently I've started collecting old model car kits (mostly '70s-80s, stuff I remember). It started out with a couple of antique-shop finds, and then a couple of peeks at eBay, and now all of a sudden I have about 70 kits...

These are divided into "keepers" and "builders," although I plan to build them all eventually. I've finished a couple, and I'm finding it a whole different experience from when I was 13. I have greater patience, but worse eyesight... thank goodness for reading glasses.

I'll post some photos of my successes in a while (I'll keep the failures to myself). But for now, I'm going to peruse some photos on here. Lots of good stuff here!

Thanks! Here are my latest attempts...

Revell/Monogram Camaro:

Revell '37 Ford:

A couple of MPC Corvettes:  (came from one of those "Collector's Edition" packs, but the box was crushed in shipping)

And the '58 Edsel in the background is my current project. Or rather, one of my current projects, in addition to scratch-building a 1:8.5 scale RC Daihatsu Hijet mini-truck, restoring a vintage Kyosho Optima 4WD RC buggy, and redoing all the wiring in my "real" 1971 MGB GT. I have too many hobbies. Or maybe not enough. Could go either way.
