I wonder if the extended chassis section might beĀ  Smith Form-A-Truck product. The Cain drive visible in that photo is certainly a likely a clue.

Found first semi, maybe.

1899 Winton car hauler. Interesting that it's a car hauler and not a general freight carrier.

A enlarged version of this image will show the words "Smith Form-A-Truck" lettered on the semi' s frame rails just behind the drive wheel. Thanks for posting this one.
