My first car

Even though my current car right now is my first car its still pretty mean machine. not as cool as some of the other vehicles on this list my 2007 5.3L Trailblazer is still fun to drive (the picture is not of my truck, my truck sadly has a blown engine im currently rebuilding, also mine has better looking wheels) 

And yes mine does (did) burnouts just like the picture!

I did drive my Dad's '84 Ford Escort diesel off and on in high school and college, but these two were the first that were mine exclusively.   My '87 Mustang GT (got new in high school) and '86 Mustang LX (my take-off-to-college car).   Still have the '87, been in storage for a number of years in the barn in the photo (pic is from around 30 years ago).  The '86 got totaled when I moved to Michigan in '94 and was replaced by an '88 Ford Bronco II (pictured in rusty form in Colorado Springs in '00, right before I traded it on my first Jeep, an '00 Grand Cherokee).

Yeah, 64k miles...pretty much all original.  It's always been my 2nd or 3rd car, hasn't been driven much the last 20 years.

My first car was a 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 that I bought from my parents in 1977 if I remember correctly. Looked just like this one except it had a red interior. Wish I still had that boat!

My first car was a 1967 Falcon similar to this. It had a straight six and auto. For the same price ($400.00) I could have had a 1956 Chevy BelAir convertible. It was sitting in a neighbor’s farmyard with 1964 California plates on it and a tow bar on the front. It had only been driven for 8 years and then towed up here!  It had no rust on it. The top and interior were shot though. Being 16 years old, I wanted something I could drive so I bought the Falcon.☹️

This is a neat topic, great stories!

This was my first vehicle, and I am lucky to still have it, my ‘86 Eddie Bauer Bronco. My father was the second owner, bought it in ‘92 and then it became mine when I got my license in ‘96. It was certainly beginning to show its age.

It was my daily driver through high school and college, and my father and I did a basic restoration in ‘02-04 (shown in the photos above) and it continued as my daily driver and then a secondary vehicle for nearly the next ten years.

Incredible memories in that Bronco over the decades.

It currently resides solely in my garage, in need of major engine and body work, but it will ride again someday.

I have plans to replicate it in 1/25 scale, of course.

Rob 2 cars I always wanted was the 86 Monte Carlo Super Sport and a 87 Mustang Gt. My buddy bought the first one in town a dark silver. I was a young dad married and 21. I really wish I could have had one. I see why you held on to your..

I need to get it out of the barn and drive it more...it has a few issues, but is in really good original condition.  A/C isn't working.  It's had the clutch replaced, one of the headlight buckets replaced (filled w/ water back in the 90s), driver's door handle (the original broke off around 20 years ago), and has an aftermarket Sony CD player in place of the original AM/FM cassette deck.  But still runs great (it gets started and periodically driven up and down the 3/4 mile long driveway at the family farm).     I only have a 2 car garage currently at my house in the suburbs, but will probably bring it up here eventually. 

Had a buddy in high school that had a dark red '86 Monte Carlo SS and another with an '87 Grand National (both got totaled their senior year).  Lots of Fox Mustangs and 3rd gen Camaros and Firebirds in my high school in the late 80s.

You must not have driven the snot out of it, I don't see a mention of a broken drivers side seat back. ? I've owned three Fox bodies. The first two were bought new, 1986 GT and 1989 LX 5.0. These two were in really good shape when I sold them as I didn't really beat on them too much. I bought a used '93 GT that had everything worn out that gets worn out when someone drives it to hell and back. It was a fun car though, even used up.

Yeah, I took care of mine.  Garaged most of the time, never drove it in winter.   I had the '86 Mustang LX 4 cyl for my main car when I was in college and grad school, then the Bronco II...so the GT mostly was garaged. I did several cross country drives in it, drove all over Colorado and New Mexico when I had it in Colorado in the late 90s-early 00s.

Really thinking I'd like to have a modern Mustang sooner or later...maybe the current Bullitt edition or GT.    Though I like the modern Challenger a lot also.

Can confirm.  I drove them "professionally" in the 80's and 90's (a certain state-wide law enforcement organization) and almost every one broke its seatback.  Not good when you're the best part of an hour away from the station.  Wrap up the spare tire in a yellow "body blanket", muscle it behind the driver seat to prop it into position and limp on in.

I bought my first car from my grandfather in 1998 for 300 finnish marks. That equals nowadays for about 70 euros, which again equals roughly 65 usd. It was in rough shape with all the rust and worn out paintwork. So, what to do? Strip the whole thing into pieces and built it again. With some modifications.

 

 

It had been sitting nine years, because in 2011 I bought my second car, Chevy C10 pickup and you can't drive two cars at the same time. And yes, Chevy is much easier to drive with all the power steering and automatic transmission.

This week I took "bull by the horns" and on Wednesday I got it running, on Thursday I drove it outside from the shed and today, Friday I drove it to inspection and there was nothing to mention. Well, that sort of car, when the lights and brakes work, there's really not much more to inspect. So, here we are today. Paint is not perfect anymore and rust is making comeback here and there, but it is almost 20 years from repaint.

My first car was a 1966 VW 1300 Beetle that I inherited from my grandmother in 1967. I still own it today and the attached photo was taken about five months ago.
