1976 Kenworth VIT 200 Bicentennial (W900)

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Finally got around to posting this one. It's certainly a great time to finish those projects.  They only made around 200 of these trucks in 1976, and I wanted to capture the history along with challenge myself doing a simple snap kit.

Kit: Revell Kenworth W-900 Aerodyne (85-1507)
Represents: 1976 Kenworth VIT 200 Bicentennial
Paints: Tamiya White (TS-26), Tamiya Gold (TS-21) and Tamiya Blue (TS-15) for interior
Extras:

  • AMT tires, rims and quarter fenders
  • Revell Germany W900 dashboard (it has more details and CB)
  • Double Take Replicas resin W900 visor (the only one I found to fit this kit)
  • ModelTruckin' Bicentennial decals

Thanks for looking!

Steve

Amazing how just the simple change of wheels and tires makes these old revell kits look so much better. Nice work !!!

Very well done, Steve.  Have one of these on the "To Build" list as well along with a matching K100.  This gives me inspiration!

I like it!

In looking around on the internet, it looks like a lot of these have survived.

Now you just need to build the matching COW version!

And I see that the Tyrone Malone Papa Truck started life as a VIT 200 BiCentennial.

Way to produce a really nice looking model with a seemingly benign KW kit.... You can do so much with this kit... I'm amazed at how versatile this thing is.... VERY nice work....

Yes the Papa Truck is a 1976 K100 Aerodyne VIT 200 Bicentennial Edition ordered new from the factory by Malone.
Here it is after the transporter body was built and delivered by Transport Equipment Company in Seattle, WA and before any of the later custom touches was done to the truck.

And here it is on Bonneville Salt Flats soon efter.

After that some changes was made to the paint job, some of the gold disappeared and more red and blue stripes and some scripts was added.

Steve,

I'd say you captured the '76 perfectly!
