Vintage Homemade Slingshot

It was either late 1961 or early 1962 and I was a sophomore in high school when I was inspired by the pictures in Hot Rod.  I don't remember exactly where the plastic parts came from but the frame is from a coat hanger and the small rails are from my grandmother's hat pins.  The body was a sheet of copper that I beat into shape.  Those were fun times and I am lucky to still have it.

That is a great piece of history to still own after all these years.  You obviously did a great job back then.

The rear wheels and tyres plus the engine and headers look like they came from the AMT Double Dragster kit, with ram tubes added.
